Depending on the song, I might be able to do it. I've been playing by ear since I started with the guitar when I was 11.

We currently have some guests at our house, but as soon as they're gone I'm gonna give it a shot. (that should take a couple of days)

@Fiddlerman , I'll give it a shot tomorrow, either if I can or can't do it I'll let you guys know ASAP. Wouldn't like to see someone spending money when they could get something done for free.

There isn't any sheet music for much of what Edgar Meyer has written. It's another of those deceptive songs that's very simple to play, but very difficult to play well. It starts on A on the G string. If someone can tell you which mode it's in, then you'll know all of the notes the song contains and that will get you way down the road to figuring it out. I'm going to guess it's close to A mixolydian or A dorian depending on whether it has a C or a C#. Assuming mixolydian it would be the D scale starting on A. So, A, B, C#, D, E, F#, G, A. If it's A dorian, then the C# is a C. All that's left is getting them arranged in the proper order with the proper cadence -- right? It starts off with A, B, D, E F#...

I'm VERY sorry, I got caught up in one of my music projects and forgot to do it. I'll do it tomorrow. My apologies, and sorry for delaying!

Thanks for your comments everybody.
Hey no problem Augustoad if you do not have time i dont mind throwing some money to a musician for helping me out..
I tried those sites and the first thing they asked was if i had the copyright and i said no..They said it could be shared for free but not sold for money..So thats why i said i could donate for a different cause to someone who can write the music professionally..
Uzi i agree it does seem to be a simple tune but making it sound good is key!
On Fiddlerman's recent poll i chose dynamics but phrasing was not there which is one of the most important things in my opinion..Most people chose vibrato and on that note i feel vibrato will widen over time..You can practice vibrato but i feel it just takes time to incorporate all the different variations..It goes back to fidderman's video about shaking the violin during vibrato he gave the most simple answer..
You don't have to worry about that!!

@Fiddlerman , I felt like it was a bit strange, but I'm not too savvy on sheet music, so I jsut went with what I had. Hope it isn't too convoluted.

I think the reason that it doesn't seem right is that Edgar Meyer is a highly improvisational fellow. With reference to one recording he did with Chris Thile he said something like: Chris came in and started playing straight 4 over the song and it sounded really good. I wrote it in 4/4, but I don't play it that way, so when Chris came in, he started playing what I meant.
I'm paraphrasing, but it was something very much along those lines. I think when people like that (Edgar Meyer, Yo Yo Ma, Chris Thile, or Stevie Ray Vaughn (RIP)), they feel the music flow and go with it and aren't slavish to an exact script, rhythmically or otherwise, in other words when they are playing music in this sort of setting -- a lot of the time they are jamming.

@johnnyblaze I hope you don't mind me jumping in here but you post gave me an idea to ask about.
So I have seriously been wanting to learn the main theme of black beauty the 1994 film but i've only ever been able to find one piece of sheet music and i believe it was done for piano. Is it possible to transcribe it for violin? I would do this myself but *ahem* i suck at anything music writing related. I grew up with this movie and having been born and raised with horses it still means a lot, plus i think the sound track to that movie is just amazing! any who what do you guys think? Like johnneyblaze i am more then willing to compensate for the time and effort!
The sound track of the main theme
The sheet music is attached in a pdf format.

Very cool piece rockinglr33
Fiddlerman that is good to know about playing the top notes on Piano sheet music
Boy i tell you there is money to be made transcribing when i was searching for Short Trip Home there were dozens of people looking and willing to compensate..Not a bad side gig for someone who has the skills.

@Fiddlerman oh wow, i didn't realize it was as easy as playing the top line! haha guess i got all confused with the cords(?) for piano i didn't even think about just playing one part so i guess that kinda fixes it haha. i'll play with what i have then unless someone wants to make a specific violin one. Though i can say i'd I would love to hear a more interesting variation! but then i don't like just sticking to the strict notes once i know a tune
@johnnyblaze That would be an awesome side job if i could do it! and how fun to transcribe all those pieces.
