Hi All again

Just to get on to a 'lighter' topic, why do you have the user name that you use

Picklefish, Ratvn, Ozmous, ???

I suppose that I should explain mine first up.
My user name is Ferret ........ Why?
Because, I have ferrets. I'm up to number 9 now. Wonderful animals they are.

They are very social, fun loving, laid back, loving of their humans, and are alway up for something new. However, if they feel threatened or have been hurt, they will, without second thought, take a piece out of you. I know this from personal experience. I use this user name often smile

And you???

Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of dunno ..... What was I saying???? facepalm

Alright, Ferret, I go next then.

My use name is usually ratvn because it's an abbreviation of my real name.

It goes Robert Anh Tuan, so that is rat, and I was originally from Vietnam, so my use name is ratvn.....haha..

You have a good day there. One day I would love to visit your place after coming back to Vn as it's not too far. Would really love to see the country though as I thought I would settle down (many years ago) in Au instead of Us.

Well, because just plain "Daniel" was already taken.  So I added the initial from my last name.

Nothing clever, creative, or informative about mine.  LOL

We have a large Vietnamese population in Australia. I thing that their greatest contribution to the Australian society is their 'cooking'. I love the food. thumbs-up

You are welcome any time.

I've had HatefulPain as one of two standard screen names. I use the same name on many sites I'm member of and games, so people can recognize me. I played a lot of online games earlier, so I guess I got the consept from there. (I've gotten too old to play with whiny, insolent teenagers. It was much more nicer back in the gaming days.)  Had it for a long period of time, so I can't really remember why I chose it. I think I got it when I was 13-14 years old, so probably it was some sort of teenager stuff going on. I dunno.

hahaha! ok, now for my name! "Ozmous" is nowhere near my real name :P my real name is Keith, back when i was 13 years old(now i'm 15), i was interested in "alchemy", it is, for me, just a hobby, since it is just a novelty for chemistry (well, that's for my opinion tongue )...since i love chemistry, quantum mechanics, etc. i dabbled in alchemy for fun, and i made some numerous books for fun, since i don't like to use my real name with a"novelty" science, i created a "latinized" name for my self,

ok, actually, Ozmous is a little bit close to my second name, my whole latinized name is originally "Ozmous Ferous", Ferous because my last name is Ferrer, i use it for many things, like my school ID, i secretly changed my name there without my teachers knowin' blink, my books, and i wanted a "second personality", so i used that name for my second personality....it's kinda like a stage name/pen name...and since many lads back at the "classical" era latinized their name (i.e stradivarius, garnerius)... i used it amuse

and i currently have added a label inside my violin reading "Ozmous Ferous" and a caption "proprietario del violino".

cheers! - ⁰ℨ

Ladies of this forum, prepare to be too disappointed... tongue

My screen name is derived from a character from the movie "The Italian Job" called Handsome Rob. The character (in the 2003 remake) is played by Jason Statham who, despite lacking a full head of hair, plays the handsome ladies man of the crew. While I'm nowhere as handsome as Mr. Statham, I did lose most of my hair starting around age 20 and so I adopted this screen name as a tongue-in-cheek reference to attractive/suave bald guys. My real name is Ryan and I'm actually quite average looking.

Cool topic! I've also been quite curious about some of the nicks on here...

Mine is a type of garnet. I went to Greenland for a university course on the Arctic ecosystem, and on one of our hikes there we passed by several large boulders that had rolled off the cliff nearby. The cliff was called Granatfjellet, which means Garnet Mountain, and so the boulders were chock-full of garnets. I gathered a handful to take home. Later on during that trip, I read in a book about Greenland's mineralogy that that type of garnet was called almandin (almandine in English). I claimed it as a screen name because my first name is Alma.

Tamlin is a tune that inspires me but I can't play to speed, yet. On the allaboutjazz forum, you can find me as "honey biscuit", cuz I'm sweet like dat.

Thanks for starting this thread, Ferret! I've been wondering about folks' screen names, too. There are a few others that I hope will chime in.

As for me, KindaScratchy is not only a commentary on my fiddle playing, it's also an inside joke between my husband and I. A while back there was a commercial on TV (I can't remember what it was for now.) in which a guy walks into a motel at night and the man behind the desk tells him, in a funny gruff voice, that the "towels are kinda scratchy."

For some reason, we found that hilarious and ever since have thrown it into conversations randomly. For example: "Think I'm coming down with a cold because my throat is kinda scratchy!" (Imagine that said with a funny, gruff voice.)

I thought about a lot of possible screen names when I registered here, most of which were taken, but that one just seemed to fit and it was available!

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

I had to think about this a lot before telling everyone why I call myself Kevin M.  While I was in school A kid in my class called me Kevin but there where two Kevins so I became Kevin M.  Oh wait that's my name. The M is for Michael, my middle name , but adding in my last name didn't fit.

I wish I had thought up a better name, sorry.

I've always liked the word "Fiddle" and whether I play classical or country I am a Fiddler. Now here is where it gets tricky. Nevermind.....
I was lucky to get the Domain when it wasn't claimed and extremely happy with it. Will use it as much as I can, everywhere I can. I can't believe someone else got fiddlerman on facebook before I got the chance to grab it. I should have stayed up all night that one night to claim it.
