1 year progress - Gavotte Martini (work in progress!)
My one year progress posting. A bit rough, partly due to nerves and partly due to just not being that good :)

Hi All,

I've been trying to get back to my practice lately after a few months of almost none!  Apologies that I haven't been very active in the forum but I'll remedy that :)

Here's my rough work in progress to mark my one year (plus a couple of weeks!).  I have a mute on as it's the only way I can play in my apartment, so although I'll take credit for most of how it doesn't sound good, I'm sure at least 1% can be attributed to the mute hehe.  It's a pity to always have my MJZ muted but

I seem to have a lot of the same problems I did months ago when I last posted in March:

  • Clean string crossovers
  • Using enough bow
  • Loose wrist
  • Dynamics although I find this tougher with the mute.  I have dynamics on the inside.  They're just not expressing :)
  • Bow control
  • Etc, etc!

I'm making some little improvements on the above, or so I thought until I watched my vid.  Funny how that works :)

I welcome any and all constructive feedback from this wonderful group, to help me keep improving.

Cheers!

I think you're doing well and sounding good.  It seems like you know what you need to work on to improve, so keep at it.  i look forward to hearing more.

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement everyone :)  Starting to read up on the forum and see all of my old friends here is very motivating for me!

@Fiddlerman Someday I hope!  Meanwhile I play piano, wispy all the time which isn't helping me develop dynamics and may be developing other bad habits in the process :)  I'm always trying to play 'tiny' and I think that may impact my bow usage.  I need to remember that even playing softly to  use more bow.

@coolpinkone, @schaickI genuinely miss you too!! :D I hope we can catch up on here one day soon!  I'd really like that :)

@Uzi - Thank you :)
