Hi Folks

Here is my latest effort. The Maid of Amsterdam. Sometimes called A-Roving.

As some of you know, I've been going through a bit of a playing crisis of late. So I thought I'd give you my latest to see what you think.

I'm not at all happy with my progress of late, so this is it at 2 years and 4 months, rough bits and all.

Be gentle. rofl

Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of dunno ..... What was I saying???? facepalm

Nice sounding violin.

You should consider a more flexible bow wrist to help keep the bow straight.  No big deal now but may be an issue later on with faster tempos.

Nice phrasing.

When you come to a fork in the road, take it.

@Oliver

Thanks for the feedback mate.

I know that my bowing is letting me down. That, along with my left hand. rofl

Will work on it thumbs-up

About the violin. Considering it cost me around $800, one would hope that it sounded good. wink

PS My carefully considered reply to your post comes with a price :)

Are you going to try a bridge with the holes drilled in the feet?

John!!! Thanks for posting.

I enjoyed it as much as ever.  I too, love the sound of the violin.  I love that your tune had expression in it.   I wish I could describe what I mean.  The song is over and I can still hear it playing and I can specifically hear your notes.

Good Job!notenotenotenotenotenotenote

Hummm.. I am not that good at the terms to describe anything technical. But I like it.  I am going to listen again.  I liked the song instantly so that is another bonus.

Good things are still happening John... keep on playing.

Thanks for posting.  I've always liked that song.  It was in some movie a long time ago, 20,000 leagues under the sea or something along those lines.

Oliver, it's worth a though. I wouldn't do it to the Raggetti. I've got it sounding about the way I want it.

I may give it a try on one of my others. I've seen the video. I can't remember what it is supposed to do for the sound. Will have to find the video again. It seems an odd thing to do but it may well work. I've heard a lot of people knock the idea but I bet they never actually tried it :)

I mean, whoever would have thought that bridges made of Australian Blackwood would work so well.rofl

Sounded good to me, John, but as Oliver said, a bit more attention to the wrist flexibility.

It was sweet to my ears.  Thanks for the treat.
