Newsprint as Sacrificial Glue Layer Between Top and Ribs
New to me. George Buchanan advocates gluing a page of newsprint between violin ribs and top to ease future top removal.

New to me, but it makes sense. I was reading "Making Stringed Instruments" by George Buchanan and on page 86 he advocates gluing a page of newsprint to the ribs, cut away the excess, and then gluing the top to the newsprint. In that way, the newsprint acts as a sacrifical layer if you have to remove the top in the future. He also has a neat way of using inexpensive copper tubing components to construct a steam heated bender (page 49).
