I took the photo and lowered my brightness and much as it would go with my iPad and did a screenshot. Then I brought it into photos and did some different tints. Maybe these shots will help:B0D6EADE-593F-4932-A0F9-DC98D2E3286A.pngImage EnlargerDCA33620-0574-427A-89E7-32CBC0E9D48C.pngImage Enlarger43B7C574-267C-4957-A158-3739F55CE5D5.pngImage Enlarger8415827C-D521-4E64-890E-7DE82A95EE76.pngImage EnlargerE2A54B49-DC98-40B3-B314-8F8D1525C5DA.jpegImage Enlarger

I noticed the 1800 simething anf Googled 1800 violin makers. One if the names is:

FENDT, BERNHARD SIMON (SIMMON), London, b. London 1800, d. 1852.

Could this be the name? Bernhard S Fendt

The label looks like Bernhard S Fendt

I have been lookimg for a picture of a label, but have not found one.

Here are a couple links I found.

I think cid nailed it.  Only question now is father or son?

It looks like the son had a relationship with Dodd the bow maker.  Did it come with a bow, by any chance?

Is that a Jr at the end? There is a lot of space between each section of the name and there is a lot of space between the last name and whatevwe it is. Looks loke a “J” something.

I believe the case is solved... basically.

The violin is in shambles, but I’m getting confident enough on rebuilding them.

no bow or case.

i also have a violin I bought a year ago probably, it has two repair stickers in it. One dated 1908 and the other dated 1819.  I have not attempted it, until I am confident enough to do it justice

They look pretty old and yellowed and faded. Does the ink look like the type of that time period?

Looks like Mack may have a year or two of college paid for there.

Well, it should be better than the ones I buy.  With a little work, I can double my money on them—from $30 to $60 LOL.

Here is the EBay auction, it was at 220 pounds going into the end.  I bid 400 pounds in the end at closing and wasn’t even close.

you can take a look what kind of shape it was in13324CBF-3119-4EF1-9035-B2F7ACC2FD1D.jpegImage Enlarger
