My username is KAKulow but everyone can call me Kris.

I am 24 years old, 4 years married to a wonderful wife, and just received my license as a Vocational Nurse.  I have many other hobbies that once I mention one the rest will come as no surprise.  I fell in love with the sound of the violin when I saw a duet performance with a female soprano and a violinist, that was the 4th grade.  I continued to play until the middle of my first year in middle school.  I was suffering from major depression at the time and it all came to a head that year.  After which many of my interests died or were forgotten.

That all changed about a year ago when I was still in nursing school.  I was singing with a patient and his family during a visit.  The song was hymn that I had learned how to play on the violin.  Instantly all my fond memories of the violin came back.  I was further inspired when I was able to catch up with several friends that practice and play music in many venues.  I had a little "congratulations" money left after school that I was planning on saving for a rainy day.  My wife, bless her heart, encouraged me to follow my heart and see the rain around me.

I received an acoustic violin as a gift from my brother in law and three weeks later purchased my Cecilio(aka my great white).  Since graduating my heart has never been fuller and my determination grows with each day to make the most out of each new chapter in my life.

Thank you all for the honor and privilege to be listed amongst you as a peer.  Thank you all for the good work you do and thank you Fiddlerman for providing a medium in which we all can come together for our art.

Very nice introduction Kris,

I look forward to getting to know you, follow your discussions and progress here.

If you like, many members enjoy the ability to embed YouTube videos and share their playing for feedback from others. Criticism, though very difficult to hear is one of the best learning tools.

Once again, welcome to the forum.1st-place

Hi Kris, welcome to the forum and I'm glad you decided to pursue your dream even after all that happened. That's very admirable. smile

Hi, Kris! Since you play violin i hope you'll never have any depression (unlike me - depressed every day by own playing.. JOKIN!). It's nice to meet you!

Hi, Erich! It's nice to meet you too! Here is definitely a lot of fun! You joined Christmas Project already?

Thanks for the wonderful welcome all.  Late bloomer don't sweat the protocol, it takes some getting used to.  I am working on a system to record both video and sound but a solution is eluding me.  I have downloaded the sheet music for the Christmas project and will be participating in it.  If this is the proper place to post my progress then I will post regular updates.

For those of you who are confused by this statement. I moved LateBloomers post to it's own topic under the "Introduce Yourself" forum.

Great!!!

We usually upload our videos to youtube.com and post a link. I can suggest that it would be better if you post your link on Christmas project related video in Fiddlerman's members Christmas project forum thread. So that we will be all in one place. But if you want to do it here don't forget to post there link of your final version =)))
