Hello all, I just bought my first violin through fiddlershop, and I'm trying to learn to play on my own with help from this site and others.  I've played piano and guitar for 30 years, and I can play a little on various other instruments (mandolin, ukulele, euphonium, harmonica)  I've only had the violin for a few days, but none of the instruments I've played are nearly as challenging! I instantly have even more respect for violin players now. Just playing mary had a little lamb with decent intonation is going to be a huge accomplishment!

Here's my question - I ordered a 4/4 Cecilio cvn-200. It's the first violin I've ever tried, so I have no point of reference, but it seems a bit small.  The body is 13" and the overall length is 22".  From what I've read here and on other sites, is the body should be closer to 14".   I'm kind of hoping they accidentally sent me a 3/4 because my fat fingers would appreciate a longer neck :)

If nobody knows for sure, I'll contact the shop.

Thanks!

Justin

Not a problem :) Fiddlershop has great customer service, so don't hesitate to give them a call, I'm sure they'll take care of you :)

Sounds like you got a 3/4 size violin. Definitely give us a call and we'll take care of you. The Cecilio's are the only instruments that we dropship. Margins are so little on these instruments that we would loose our profits by shipping them to us and looking at them before shipping to the buyer.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm hoping the mistake was on Cecilio's side and not ours. I hate it when we mess up. :(

Thanks Pierre!  I'll call today.  The invoice does say 4/4, so I'm assuming it was a mistake on Cecilio's end. No worries!

Still, it's a pain and I know it. Sorry

I'm patient!  Pretty busy at the moment, so I'm not going to be able to practice much anyway.

I spoke with John today, and he was very helpful.

Thanks again!

Welcome to the forum, Justin and greetings from neighboring Massachusetts! As you can see, fiddlershop.com has excellent customer service. Likewise, the folks here on the forum are friendly and helpful in helping you along your violin journey, and that includes -- and especially -- Pierre (Fiddlerman).

Thanks @KindaScratchy and @Mark,

That's exactly why I ordered from Pierre instead of amazon or something! He clearly puts a lot of time into running his business. I spent some time looking through the forums before I ordered, and as you said, everyone is really friendly and helpful!
