violin

Hey there, my name is Brandon and I am 16. For sometime i've been wanting to play the violin. Although I do not have a violin, I pretend and  imagine to play it by listening to music that has a sound of a violin... lol I have this deep down feeling that tells me I was meant to play and I have a passion for it that is far from believing. I am looking forward to being a future and active member of Fiddlerman.com, Thank you.

Welcome Brandon,

Even without a violin yet there are many things you can do to start learning to play.

Print out the fingering chart and learn it, play the intonation game and the violin finsering game. take a stick and practice your violin bow grip and bowing in a straight line. Print out the rhythm and counting chart. Watch all the videos you can. This way by the time you get a vilon you will be all ready to go.

Hi, Brandon, welcome to the forum!

Absolutely agreed with Kevin! Many people started here even without an instrument =)

Hi Brandon,

I started here a few months ago without a violin, check out the game in the beginners section. They will give you a massive head start before you even get your first instrument.

Welcome Brandon! I also listen to music, and imagine am Joshua Bell, or Issac Stern :-P

As everyone has mentioned so far, there are many things you could do without a violin to get ready, look at is as conditioning! When I coached soccer, the first two weeks, my kids did not touched a soccer ball, it was all pure running and conditioning. As it is crucial to be in shape :-P I believe the same concept applies to learning the violin :-)

Well, of course, instead of running miles, and doing conditioning exercises, you can learn how to read the music notations, and all that good technical/theory stuff.

I guess you could do some push-ups to strengthen those arms, mine right arm tends to get tired after a few hours of bowing :-violin-student

Hey BBemus,

Welcome to the forum. What plans do you have to try to get a violin? Do you know anyone who has one? Maybe you can rent one at a local music store.
Anyone who has wanted to learn to play violin for quite some time deserves a chance. Good luck in your pursuit :-)

Naska is right. The CVA-400 is a Viola.
I am giving away a violin though.

The viola is a larger instrument than the violin and tuned lower.
