Art AND Music really go hand-in-hand, being Composers ARE artists - sparked by inspiration that moves them to create!
I never understood why, throughout history - the Art World had it's period timelines, and the Music World had it's own, also.
To me, Art is Art... so, what was happening in 'Music' during the Art Nouveau period of Art and Craft - with all it's curvy, sensuous lines and motifs of nature?
'Art Nouveau' was at it's peak between 1890 - 1910.
Well, I was surprised - seems to me that the Art World lagged behind, like hanging onto the Romantic Music Era, while the music that was emerging surged closer to full-out ART DECO! Ragtime was huge and early Jazz was taking hold.
I found a great article, overview on this time period of music 1870-1890 and 1890-1910!
