Welcome to my party room! The theme of this party is film music. You can choose a piece from any movie you’ve ever seen, or even if you haven’t seen the movie but only heard the music. The only rule is that you have to tell what movie the piece is from. 😄 Have fun!

I'll start with Harry Potter!

OMGosh. Ilona, this is so very weird! I was going to do this later this week! That is soooo funny!  🤣😂🤣 I will think of another theme. I was going to request the movie, also. It is the cello in us! This should get some really pretty pieces! I have to record mine in a couple days. If someone uses the one I have been working in for over a month, I am submitting it anyway. Yep.

@Ilona -

What a GREAT Party theme!

This is going to be so much fun.

You do a wonderful Harry Potter, Ilona!

Did you watch all the movies?  I loved them all.

Hmm Thinking Here Smiley

Oooh... what about "Jaws" on the Cello?

There's sooo many good ones to choose from, I don't know where to begin!

Think I could spend a lifetime at this Party!

@Ilona -- Great on the Harry Potter-- I think I've seen them all, but I've watched them out of order--

This is a good idea--lots of great choices out there--I'm going to have to think about this one a little.

Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words.

I'd like to do some multitrack videos for this party later, when I have more time and energy. (My musical attention is focused on a big virtual orchestra project right now.)

For the moment, here's the most famous viola section soli passage in all of film music: the beginning of the Jurassic Park theme. I played up to the moment the woodwinds take over the melody. I believe this is literally the only Hollywood feature film to have its main theme first introduced by the violas.

I absolutely love the Harry Potter! I have read all the books and watched all the movies so many times that I can’t count anymore. You can ask anything about Harry Potter and I would probably answer immediately. 😜

@AndrewH Thank you so much for joining my party! 🥳 That was really great! I love Jurassic Park too, have seen all the movies many times! Thank you also for that backstory about the viola part in this main theme, I didn’t know that.

@Mouse This was the first idea that popped into my mind, when I was thinking party themes. Funny that you had the same. I have two more ideas too, so let’s hope they are not same as yours. I’m still not going to start a new party for a while. 😊

Ps. Feel free to make as many videos as you want! The world is full of great movie themes!

Lovely job, @AndrewH You look so comfortable playing your viola and get such good sound from it. I am working on getting that song. I tend to want to bow it like a violin, and that is a no no. What bow do you use? Just curious.

I use a C.F. Iesta hybrid bow, which is now sold in the US under license as the JonPaul Fusion Silver. (It was still sold under the Iesta name in the US when I bought it 10 years ago.)

Thank you, Gregw. I have been working in that song over a month. i am trying to straighten my bowing and only use vibrato where it is needed, not just all long notes. I vibratoed (if that is a word) all the long notes when I started. It was too much. Plus, my bowing was angled a lot worse when I started.

If “vibratoed” is not a word, I think it should be. 😁

Well now, this is fun!   So far I am enjoying them all!  A great theme for a party. :D

Fine playing on some fine themes.   :)

For my submission, I decided that while I be not great at the fiddle, I do have a certain talent for weird, and thus shall entertain with a minimal snippet from the movie that made people afraid to get in the water:

Jaws
