I hope everyone joins in this party and shows me how it should really be played. This is the Hal Leonard version, as found in the Essential Elements for Strings - Viola, Book One, tune Number 192.

Do you want everyone tp play this same tune,  if you do I will put it on tomorrow, but I think a better idea would be to have a party which is maybe simple hymns, but its your party and up to you, nice playing by the way, your intonation is getting better and better, would never believe you have only been at it a few months, excellent progress.

@stringy - Would prefer Simple Gifts and its variations, but would be open to other Shaker Hymns or even other hymns. Oh, thanks for the encouragement!

Yep, Stringy, party planner gets to choose. 😁

I think it will be interesting to hear the different versions or the same versions played by different people. And, what a great way to get help with a song.

Good job, JohnG. I do have that version for cello, violin and viola because I have all three of Hal Leonard. I think I have another that is almost identical, also.

Unfortunately, I can’t participate right now, but will be watching and listening for everyone’s submissions.

If someone participates, you will get a Party Badge, it might just a little late. You can request it in the BADGES section of the forum, if you want, after someone participates. That will be a reminder for me, or Fiddlerman might see it and give you your badge, but it has to be you who requests it, if it is done by request and not just me noticing.

Include a link to this party with your request.

great choice @JohnG and excellent playing!  Youre really progressing fast!!

heres mine..  had to listen to that second part a few times so thanks for sharing this one!  I think Im pretty close.  Choked out the notes a couple of times so may be hard to listen to.  Think Im gonna keep practicing this especially whenever I get around to vibrato.

Sorry for the closeup.. looked farther away in the little screen.  Youre gonna get me in trouble..supposed to be working around house.  gotta get busy now..

Can't believe how well you are playing in such a short amount of time.

No thanks are necessary.

I will get one up. I want to do it with my cello, so that will add a little more time to it being done. It is a nice tune. If I remember correctly, it is fun to do on my cello, been a while, but it was a fun tune.

Sorry for the oversight.;) I like the bluegrass feel its what I expecteď you to do, I also loved the double stops, just started practicing them again, started about ayear ago and stopped, and now regret it. I have a couple of etudes for them. so trying to knuckle down.
