If you listen here are remarkable similarities in the melody, he only starrs playing half way though as he tells the story of the song in the north east, quite sad, a lot of people in the north were oppressed and poor in our great island,.

@stringy i like that version better than the one I watched earlier.  It was a blazin fast fiddle set.  Liked the story telling at the beginning.

Here's one more before the gang arrives.  Hopefully not wearin out my party welcome.  Just a couple of fat older guys hanging out on the porch for a bit during the rain.  Sorry for the car, people use the road, which is rural, for a cut through to the interstate and treat it like a state highway.

Emily as requested included one of the pups hangin out.  Tune is flat water fran.  I included a link to Aly Bain playing so you can hear original and some sheet music.  Its not to difficult, especially slower.

@ABitRusty -

I have heard 'Inisheer', just couldn't remember it - absolutely no reflection on your playing!

Have NOT heard 'Flat Water Fran', before!

Great tune - where you finding these?

So wonderful to see you out on the porch (even though you weren't rockin') - relaxing with the Fiddle!

Really enjoyed it!

@stringy -

Here ya go!

The only reason I got out today, was by absolute necessity - had to get a new Mil ID.  Sure grateful, and the weather was a bonus!  1st perfect day in a long time... Sunny & 74°F!

Thought the little picnic area, on the Base, would be a great spot to play Mortimer after my appointment, because it's never crowded like the huge Metro Park a few minutes away.

Little did I know...

...what I'd have to go through, to give you a bit of scenery! 🤨

Party Time!

@ABitRusty -

Not a soul, thank goodness!

I had a death grip on my bow & still hardly kept it on the strings.

...could hear it pleading, "let me go toward the light"...

Love the 'Bonny at Morn' in the 'Relaxing to Celtic Fiddle Tunes' thread.

@gregw - Just was able to watch your Flat Water Fran and really enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing. That traffic really didn't adversely affect your video, in my opinion.

Greg loved flat water fran, I am going to attempt to learn that one. never heard either that one or Emilys before. I like the way the dog in the background was listening, waiting to jump on any wrong  note :)

Emily I am amazed you werent blown into that lake, that was a great performance and matched the setting perfectly, all that was missing was a sea eagle swoop down to catch a fish in the background, and a cut shot to a lone piper , brilliant stuff.

@Mark , @stringy -

Thanks for watching - I appreciate it!

🤔 Didn't think about it at the time, but might have protected my bow better from the Wind if I was more comfortable just bowing at the tip. (lol)

We do have many birds of prey in the area - love them, but they're an ongoing problem for Aircraft that frequent the Air National Guard Base.  Many of these magnificent birds are regularly relocated to safer areas by Wildlife Management.

There was a boat that came into view in my Fiddlerman Party video.  I just posted a little info there about my area and the Great Lakes Waterway.

@stringy he hates me playing and i had invaded his domain.  lol   he kept looking like.."done yet..hooman are you done yet.."

and why do i feel ive seen your piper cut scene in a movie or commercial?  lol  thinking its very monty pythonesque.. funny regardless..

Emily we drove up to niagra from pittsburgh one summer.. stopped at several parks on shoreline ( dont remember names)  they dont call them great lakes for nothing..  i want to head back on your side up to the area with dunes on up north??? cant remember name.  maybe in a couple of years.

@ABitRusty -

Haven't really spent a lot of time at Niagara Falls since I was a Kid, but have spent many vacations around the Falls of Upper Michigan/the U.P.!

Of course, I don't live near any of these. 😔

Sorry, no more State advertising from me. 🤭

excellent stuff John, cant believe how far you have come in such a short space of time, yOu should be made up with yourself. Thanks for joining in.

Not had much time to comment this week as I am in London again, did notice a lot of new members though, who I will welcome tomorrow when I get back home, I have probably lost what little skill I had myself, with no practice this week, mind you my neck and back havent been aching, because of the rest, so may start playing my mandolin for a while, not bothered with thata for a year or two. maybe even put a few fast jigs in the forum section for it.

@ABitRusty and @stringy - Thanks for the votes of confidence, I hear all the fluffs and scratches and whatnot, but am glad you are concentrating on my successes. It is most appreciated.

@stringy - I hope your trip was successful or fun or both! The wife and I spent a couple of really great times there quite a few years ago. And she had gone with a girlfriend once before that. We would love to do it again, but finances preclude that.
