Thanks mouse, hoping I can get a few more to join in this time. I have been told this is whats called a double jig, but I dont have a clue if thats correct, as I never heard of one before.

VERY COOL piper tune!
Love your cap, too!
Great Party idea, but I've got nothing that fits it at the moment. I'll see if I can come up with something, though.
Think the reason you don't hear about 'Double' Jigs - it's the normal, most common type - so we just call it a "Jig". It's in 6/8 time, 2 groups of 3 eighth notes in a bar - feel a 2 pulse groove per bar.
'Single' Jigs are still 6/8, but 2 groupings of a quarter note + an eighth. 'Old Scottish' Single Jigs can have a dotted quarter note AND a quarter/eighth grouping, can even have bars with just 2 dotted quarter notes - still feel a type of 2 pulse groove per bar.
'Slip' Jigs are 9/8 and have 3 grouping of notes (3 eighths and/or quarter + eighth) - feel a 3 pulse groove per bar.
'Slides' are in 12/8 time - but with 4 of any combination of the other jig-type note groupings - feel a 4 pulse groove per bar.
I'm so lazy, I hate trying to remember what 'type' tunes are. Drives me especially crazy that there are some terms used for dancing, but not for the dance 'music' - gets confusing & I'd rather just play what I hear. 🙄

Thanks everyone for taking a look👍
Katie do you mean you will have to find a hat to join in or find a tune lol. Doesnt have to be a double jig can be anything you want. I am intrigued what tune you will go for
Emily you are a mine of information, very interesting info, you have a deep knowledge of theory no doubt about it😁
Sharon look forward to you joining in, your tunes are always quality, and cant wait to see what you pick.

I'm never sure if I'm helping to make anything easier for anyone to understand, or harder... probably the latter, but I'm hoping I'll get better at it.
I remember when I started out with my new violin & found the irishtune.info Rhythm Definitions - thought, "what the... #$%&*!?" 😖
...been on a mission ever since. (lol)
Btw, found something for this party - gimme a few days. 😊
Emily you curiosity is aroused about your choice, I am glad you're joining in can't wait to hear it.
I think your info on musical matters is greatly appreciated by all on here, keep it up.
Katie, I am surprised you have time for violin if you have an allotment, I look forward to your choice.
ere’s mine. I guess Indian Summer isn’t really in Summer, but I figured “Summer” is in the title, so I’d be ok
Got it from The Session site (added the viola part). It’s in D minor. I think I was drawn to it subconsciously because the 1st 6 notes are the same beginning notes of the Bach Double 2nd Violin part.

Brilliant Sharon I love it, you never let us down. Love the viola part, bet this would be even better with a cello as well. Excellent stuff, thanks for joining in:)
