This is sounding really good.
Perhaps we can have a crack at "the pink panther" tune as part of the jam?
Flight wise, looks like I have to go to Luxemburg, New York then LA main for a cheap deal, but if I get a car in the deal, I don't mind doing a circuit to collect the more "local" people.
Driving round will be a good way for me to see a bit more of California, or New New Mexico, or whatever it will be called by January.
Will be entertaining for the passengers to be on the "other" side of the road for a change
I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

That's a great idea Pierre, I'll PM you Richard's contact info and let him know you'll be calling/emailing; he's in Turkey until the end of this month.
Terry, Pink Panther sounds great too! And yeah, not a big deal if you fly into LAX, grab your car, then head down to Anaheim/OC; I was actually thinking just last night that the only direct flights to/from Heathrow are LAX out here; but flying in from NYC, you can get a direct to Orange County, but faires might be cheaper to LAX. You'll enjoy driving around SoCal; gives you the freedom to stop into any, or all, of the many marinas, like Marina del Rey, Long Bch, Newport, etc..

Civilised or rowdy?
Hey Fred, been checking flight details. Will be around £550 for me at that time if year. Which airport would you recommend, LA?
I checked on the map that Fred's place is pretty close to oceanside, which is pretty close to San Diego; so, Terry, flying in to SD may be a better idea, but you will have to double check with Fred or check on the map (google map or yahoo map).

Actually, Orange County is the best a/p to come into, if you can find decent fares. The San Diego a/p and O.C. a/p are the same distance to me,,, but both are closer than LAX; it's just that often, Intl flights are cheaper and a better selection than SD.
In a few days, I'll put together a list of convenient hotels for everyone to consider/check out.

Hey ALL! I've been out of town and buried in a hole somewhere in Mexico [just kidding, just an avalanche of work] the past 3 wks and I've missed the crap outta Forum! I feel like I've lost touch and want to get back on this! Remember, my place (in Fallbrook, CA) on Saturday 1/26!
Attendees, so far we have -
Fred (me) & Brooke (daughter)
Pierre & Michael (son)
Terry
Diane & Hubby
Toni
Denny
Scott
Kelly
Eric
Clint
Kim (Pky) & family
Richard (my teacher)
Avery (Fiddle camp director)
Maril (fiddle friend)
18, this is quite a group, but we could use MORE; "more people more fun" (sounds like a Swinger's ad,,, do Swingers have ads, lmao)!!! Come on, who else can make it to sunny SoCal in January!
Song List, here are the suggestions so far, add more ideas; our Music Director needs to solidify -
Oh Susana
Amazing Grace
Will the Circle Be Unbroken
Ode to Joy
Pink Panther
NAMM, if we (Pierre & I) can come up with a couple extra tix, who is dying to go?
Day Trips, what might people want to do; tell me who's interested in what and I'll coordinate? So far these are the ideas -
Disneyland
Local Mtns (snowboarding or drinks in the warm lodge)
Hollywood
Catalina
San Diego GasLamp District
Laguna Beach
I think that's the update; I'll put some accommodation ideas on another note to this thread.

Recommended Hotels/Motels in the following areas -
Anaheim (central location between Fallbrook & LA; right next to NAMM Convention; near Orange Cty Beaches); after having spent the past hour checking rates at hotels nearby the Convention Ctr, they are all booked for the dates of NAMM. If you're going to stay in Anaheim, you'll wind up staying a couple of miles away, which isn't really a big deal; I like these
Sheraton Anaheim Hotel [4 star] (Expedia) - approx. $189/night
Ayres Hotel Anaheim [3 star] (Expedia) - approx. $159/night
Lemon Tree Hotel Anaheim [3 star] (Expedia) - approx. $785/night
Fallbrook (if you're just coming down for the Saturday event at my place, this is the best area to stay; all of these places are within 10 min.s from my house)
Pala Mesa Resort [3.5 star] (1-760-728-5881) - approx. $150/night
Pala Casino & Resort [4 star] (1-877-725-2766) - approx. $170/night
Rodeway Inn [2.5 star] (1-760-728-6174) - approx. $69/night
Econo Lodge Inn [2.5 star] (1-760-723-1127) - approx. $50/night
I hope this helps your planning some; now days, it's pretty easy to plan your travel on the internet. The weather should be between low-50's at night to mid-70's during the day.

That's right Pierre; I think I'll have two spare. Terry was the very first to express an interest and Scott is the second, so we should be able to take care of them.
The most important thing to remember about these tickets is, and I think this is the first year NAMM is doing this, we, the ticket owners, have to identify the exact person who will be using each ticket and they are NOT transferrable; your ID must match the name on the ticket. So if someone says they are going to use the ticket, they have to be committed to using the ticket, otherwise we've just wasted a valuable ticket that someone else could've used. This isn't a, "I think I'll be able to make it, but if I don't, the ticket can be used by someone else", it's a commitment.

How much are the tickets? I was getting a free ride as ASCAP endorsed artist/publisher for an animation studio but again they have other plans now.
Are either you Fred or Pierre going to have booth space? Let me know what's up. I want to go for sure. I was just at the NAMM website and wow have they changed some rules since the last time I attended.
