White Coral Bells is a nice round. Of course, there's always Pachebel's Canon in D, if you want to add a classical piece.

Oh, yes!  Pachebel's Canon in D.  I vote for that.

cool

I've learned so much from my mistakes that I've decided to make some more.

Very nice! OK, who's bringing the lute? Hey, maybe that will be my next stringed instrument (after I master the violin...heh, heh).

Just a thought: Pachelbel's Canon could be a good future group project.

The part is really the same, except for the normal cello part which is just D, A, B, F#, G, D, G, A over and over again throughout the piece.
The other part is a round.
And yes, LOL, I have parts. I'll include that with all the other music.

Is there a deadline to RSVP or to suggest tunes?
I might be able to make it from the Great White North - just have to confirm my lab schedule  for the new year.
As for tunes - I've got hundreds (probably closer to thousands really...) that are good for all levels. Just depends on what everyone is interested in. If you need more, drop me a note! :D

OK, now I've started a page for the South California Fiddlerman Jam.

Although all the music is not yet available I have started Finale files for each one and will be posting new pieces regularly. I don't want to take PDF's from other sites without permission. Also, having them on Finale will allow me to change key if we see fit plus distributing the traditional or Copyright free sheet-music legal.

Hey, thanks for including The Ash Grove on the song list, Pierre! It might be cool to include some video of the SoCal jam in the mini project video!

BTW, I noticed in the alternate text that appears when you hover your mouse over the link to the sheet music, that the title is The Ash Groove. Are you proposing that we give it sort of an R&B twist?

LOL, I guess I just copied a bit too much of the title. I'll fix the link too. Thanks for letting me know.

I just learned the Canon in D on the cello last night!  I'm working on pitch and tempo, but it's pretty stinkin easy for the cello part; it's the violin parts that are the fun parts, but such a great sound with the cello.

Okay, so how's this for a new invention.......  you know how there are double-necked guitars,,,,,, how about a mechanism that hooks a violin/viola to the side of a cello so that you could actually bow both at the same time and move your left hand back and forth between the two necks,,,,,, think about it for a while,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ok, just kidding

I'm a dork, but even I realize the impossibility of that contraption.

I'm just praying for perfect weather on 1/26!!!  with snow in the mtns of course!!!

Hey Pierre,,, as usual, I'm confused.  I went to the link for the "Official South CA Fiddlerman Jam Page", which has great info on it; but do we use that page to keep track of RSVPs, and NAMM interest, and other events, or do we continue to update this thread????

I'd still like to get a hard count on who's actually coming; there are things I need to start working on, depending on how many people are attending.  I understand it may still be a bit too early for everyone to say, but I'm hoping to know no later than 12/30.
