I told these guys about our get together and extended the invite to come along.
The organist said "great, I'll be there"

Haaaaa, nice work Terry,,, so the "Organist" is going to be your date, lmao!

It doesn't really matter to me which day is Studio and which is Mtn; but I think logistically it makes more sense to do Mtn on Sunday because everyone will be here in [my] town on Sat. and it's quickest/shortest to leave from here [Fallbrook] for those who are going up.  And we'd better let Scott know soon which day works best for everyone for the Studio; Scott, let us know if there are restrictions on the best day for the Studio okay.

Terry, check a few posts back [in this link], you'll see a bunch of hotels/motels (most reasonably priced) in my area [like within 5 min.s of my house] and in the Anaheim/OC area; check em out.

To give everyone a point of reference, NAMM is in Anaheim and the bbq is in Fallbrook; so you can investigate online what makes the most logistical sense for you.  I would suggest everyone stay Sat. night in a Fallbrook lodge.

Thanks Barry, I think it's a great list too.  Too bad you're not going to make it, you'd add a lot to the party!

Jim, that would be a freakin riot if you were able to make it, so sorry you can't!

But be assured, our escapades will soon be in a theater near you!

Suresh, maybe Pierre knows how to set that up!!!

Denny,,, just make sure you bring your jug, buddy!  The last time I had moonshine (the comml version), it was in 1971; I was working at an Esso (no not Exxon yet) station while in HS; it was about 30 miles south of the Canadian border, and these tanker truckers would come through the station for diesel and siphon off a gallon for their American friends (me); it wasn't even filtered yet, still had charcoal in it, lol.  Two shots and it was lights out!fainting-1344

That stuff was probably in the high 175+ proof range, far too harsh for drinking straight. Need to be cut back to 80-90 proof to be smooth and easy drinkin.

If I fly, can't bring any, but if I catch a ride with anybody then it's easy. I'm thinking 2-3 qts should be plenty of my high grade stuff. LOLthumbs-up

I may ask for help on collecting the sheet-music on some of them, but making demo's will be a piece of cake.

I should have all the music I suggested. One or two might even have chords on it.

I also found

Ode to Joy

Auld lang syne

Scarborough Fair

Oh! Susannah

Denny, 2 - 3 qts and I'll be able to run my tractor on it, lmao!  Yeah, the truckers said it was 190 proof; it's why I'm so stupid today!

Believe me Pierre, we'll have plenty of libations before we play!  I just hope the weather turns out to be on our side,,, a January day could be as low at 60F, haaaaaa; t-shirt weather for some of you; but my only real concern would be rain; then we have to bring it all indoors.

I sure hope more of you can make it too; you're seeing that this is turning into a great event; we'd love to have you here!!!   JUST DO IT!!!!

Hey Scott!  What's the update on when we can book the studio (you said it's free right?)

If you guys send me the music to these pieces I'll compile them, maybe with bowings and post them on a link for everyone to download.
I'll find or write music for those that I don't get.

I suggest that we don't make it a moonshine fest till after we all jam together.

The studio time isn't looking so good. I know the owners and knew that they were going to Vegas during this time so I thought it would be a perfect time... but the studio is rented out the last 2 weeks of Jan. I tried. But I do have a ton of recording equipment myself that I'll bring to the jam...

Just loosen us up and let the music rolll...cheers

RSVP - me!  I love me some BBQ.  I need to go to work on my fiddling.  I've set it aside in favor of cello-ing.  Has the sheet music been posted yet?

Can Scarborough Fair be played as a round?  It seems to me I've heard it performed that way.  It might be fun to try it.

cool

I don't think it is a good round. In this version they kind of did it but not really. IMO it's more like an echo:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....jaBfqonLWM

When you're sitting on the long notes one can play the previous phrase and it's fine.

We can play "Three Blind Mice", "Row Row Row Your Boat", "Frère Jacques", and "Sumer is icumen" as rounds. That could be cool.

Whatever you think is best, Pierre.  We gotta have a round.  Or a fugue.

I found this really cute video of the Dragnet theme done as a fugue for an iPhone:

I think it's clever.

cool

White Coral Bells is a nice round. Of course, there's always Pachebel's Canon in D, if you want to add a classical piece.

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

Of course Pachebel's Canon. Why didn't I think of that. Maybe playing it so often at weddings makes want to forget it. LOL
