Friday night - First “band” practice

After a little visit and some chinese food...practice begins....

My husband can’t resist joining in, he starts belting out the songs, he’s already an awesome singer (at church and stuff) and he remembers just about every country song ever!....I never heard any country songs growing up in england....since I don’t think Gary Glitter will be on their playlist, my no.1 priority will be brushing up on some George Strait.

Both our husbands look at us as they stop singing, and Lorna and I just look at each other like....whaaat!....I yell “go” and we spend the whole time trying to catch up with each other, terrible!!!! - ends in fits of laughter, and our husbands shaking their heads.

Took a bit for me to get used to being plugged into a speaker that was pointing away from me, and somehow not sounding like me, apparently sounded better (not a bad thing for sure!) - I’m playing the yamaha electric from Fiddlershop - a whole other story, where I am caught opening the FM package before mothers day, Lorna and I try to sneak a peek after carefully opening both inner boxes so I can tape it all back up....but we get caught covered in shipping peanuts....my husband said he expected no less, so I am playing it at first practice...

After about an hour - with my hubby stomping his feet, flapping his arms around and pointing to us so we could start together.....we were beginning to get the hang of it, they ran through Amarillo by Morning, they sounded great, us, not so much, but we are beaming, we got through one tune and just about started and ended at the same time - I guess we just had to play independently and not look at each other - keeping in time with my hubbys cowboy boots (poor thing, he was wore out!) I had slightly more notes on my music, not sure why, but somehow it made sense when it came together, our husbands are smiling.

We need to somehow video the next one - (and probably edit out most of it!) my face hurt from laughing so much, had so much fun....I am in awe! I love it!

That's hilarious!

That what its about!  Yes a video would be cool and no edits.  Funny post Mimi!  Cool you are in a band.  Sounds fun.

Hee! - I don't think they'll want us on any kind of a stage for a while yet!

Sounds like a fun time.  Practice practice practice.  I too would love to see a video (no edits, don't you dare!) 1st-place

Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

Great stuff @Mimi Aysha !   It will get easier and easier as time goes on - just enjoy the moment - well, you clearly already are ! )

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

Mimi,

Enjoy it, I have many many fond memories of making music in a group over the years. Very special times as you can see now.
