Learning a new instrument you just really have to take your time and feel how the notes work. A violin neck just doesn't have the room for frets. You really need to use your ears.
A great way to practice is to really focus on your hand positions. In first position practice the first five notes of the scale on each string. Both major and minor. And practice along with recorded scales not just looking at sheet music.

I can't play a flat to save my life, but the sharps are my best friends. My husband bought me little tiny colored dots with tape on the back of them to stick in the flat spots. I used my chromatic tuner to find the note, placed the dot, then checked to make sure I had it in the right spot. Now I hit the flats just fine. At some point, I will take them off, but not until my fingers listen to my brain a bit better.
