Hi everyone... I noticed there's not much information out there about the Artist violin so I figured I would post some pics of the one I just bought & give my thoughts for anyone who wants a little more information on this violin. Mine seems to be the latest version of the Artist violin, so I can't comment on older versions which might have been made at a different shop.
So without further ado, here's the pics! At the end I will post my thoughts & welcome other people's feedback.

That looks like a very nice instrument, and at around $500 I could possibly swing it in a few months. I haven't noticed this one before. Thanks for sharing!
Can you comment on how you liked the sound of this violin?
It's easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself. Johann S.Bach

Being a noob, I don't have a discrening ear yet, plus I don't have anything else to really compare it to, but I think it sounds great. I gave my Apprentice violin to my mother in law, so I can't even compare it to that (the Apprentice sounded good to me). It took me awhile to get used the Fiddlerman synthetic strings after playing my Apprentice with the steel Prelude strings. But eventually I figured out that the strings sound great and it was my playing that was defective...
I will try to post a sound sample tomorrow sometime this weekend.

WOW!
You got an Artist viola and violin. Thanks for the business.
There is definitely a difference between steel core strings and synthetic core. I look forward to many more posts with you and possibly your progress report as well.![]()
Long story short, my wife gave me a budget and I couldn't decide between a really nice violin and a really nice viola... So I split the money and bought one of each.

Wow. Its really nice to see another Artist violin buyer. I purchased mine on April 13th and have been having a blast learning the violin. I'm actually kind of jealous because mine doesn't have as nice of a finish as yours and the flame has a really nice contrast. I'll post some playing tomorrow as everyone is currently asleep and I don't have a mute. I'll post some photos in a minute

They look pretty similar to me. I think some of the differences you're seeing are due to lighting & type of camera used. I was in a room lit by windows on both sides & took the pics on my cell phone w/ HDR enabled. Actually, the flaming on your violin looks great to me... It has a nice tight pattern like my Artist viola.
I can't wait to hear a sound sample!

Most likely. I have never taken my violin outside to play. I would like to buff it up to a sheen, since I can see microscratches which were there when I first received it. I hate recording my playing since I sound absolutely horrible. But at the very least, I'll try to get one up tomorrow or soon. Finals is this week and I'm dying lol.

I definitely got a weird one, or possibly one of a new batch with different varnish. The color reminds me of iced tea. The spruce tops are also mismatched, with one side real, real tight (looks like fabric, which is helped by a wavy grain pattern), which I love and don't think has much of an effect on sound (some Gesus had mismatched tops). The left piece also has a little knot in the top left like a scar on its eyebrow. Very distinctive and I dig the whole look.
The lump on the chin rest is the Impressionist comforter, which if you have more of an Expressionist chin shape like mine, I highly recommend.

Wow, that is a really nice looking violin. But it looks completely different from mine.
Mine also has a knot, but it's on the back, near the bottom of the violin as you can see in the pic. It looks like a crack but is actually a small knot.
I am curious as to why the 2 violins look so different. Yours more closely resembles what's on the Fiddlershop website. But both violin styles appear in the demo vids on YouTube.
