admin Thanks It's interesting trying to change up the vibrato I do after practicing one way for so long, lol. I feel more comfortable doing it now than I did when I made this video, but I can tell I am still doing a combination, I do it without thinking, my hand just wants to do it the way I was telling it to for the past few months, lol.

That's good to know. I think the D and G string it's easier on my hand to do more of an arm vibrato (though I know my wrist still tries to do it too, it's kind of an unconscious motion, I don't feel it but my teacher sees it, and I'm trying to cut that out, lol) I think those are the strings that started making my thumb hurt, and A and E is where I seem to use my wrist more.

Couple new videos ... Trying to get more fiddle tunes up to speed... Both of these are still a work in progress. .. If it would stop being rainy and cold I might be able to do an outdoor video someday, lol.

Yeahhh, I talked about your IWW elsewhere - it can be a bit of a run-away tune! And the Maid Behind the Bar - a new one to me - I'll have to check it out !
Yup, you're getting these fingers (and bow) flying, great progress !
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -

Did a little fiddling in the park today... not my best playing, kept messing up trying to get a song finished between planes taking off behind me, lol. Playing a quirky old fiddle I got from a local luthier to use outside. It's not perfect, but does what I wanted.

Cool ! The out-of-doors playing is always fun - never know what's gonna happen next! Last summer I was playing outside and a great big bumble-bee started terrorizing me ( LOL - I don't mind them, really, they're cool dudes - it just didn't need to land on my arm ! )

It was a different kind of challenge, lol. Little flying bugs kept landing on my arms and then crawling around, or landing on my face, lol. And then the airport runways are about a mile... maybe 2 at most... behind where I was playing and they were taking off that direction yesterday (of course, lol).

@damfino Wonderful progress!! That bird was so sweet!!
I just finished 9 lessons with an Irish Fiddle teacher. Two things I learned about making it easier to speed up - shorten the bow stroke even down to an inch, and then to make a louder sound dig in. I mean really dig in!
So now I understand why my first teacher - Suzuki Teach said it was ok to have that scratchy sound - because at some point I would be using it again!
Actually the people at the Bluegrass jam I attend told me to really dig too, make it gritty!!
Something else that was different with the Irish lessons, the bow was tighten to the point that the stick was straight!
Violinist start date - May 2013

FIDDLE- Gift from a dear friend. A 1930-40 german copy, of a french copy of a Stradivarius. BOW - $50 carbon fiber. Strings - Dominants with E Pirastro Gold string.

@Schaick Thanks! I have a lot of fun with all these fiddle tunes. I've never seen that with tightening the hair that much. My teacher trained classically, but mainly plays fiddle style professionally (mainly folk fiddle) but keeps her bow at I guess what would be normal tension, so has me do the same.
