kim-d @marikoli @BillyG Thanks guys I love both of these little tunes, even if my take on them isn't quite where they should be, lol... stick a camera in front of me and I get even worse, lol.

elisadalviolin Thank you While I already knew how to do 5 note roll before I got to working on Morrison's jig, I was intimidated by having them in a row on different strings like this, lol.

Look at you go.. OH gurl...oh gurl! High five.. so so so proud.
Thanks for posting.... good job.... I can hear the Fiddling in your music. Good job.
My only exposure to five note rolls is with The Kiss (Theme to Last of the Mohicans).. I tried it very early on in my violin playing. I decided I wasn't ready for it. I was not as talented as you.
I might have to give it a shot now.
Good job..... (your hair looks adorable too).
Cheers. Toni

coolpinkone Thank you so much I had so much fun learning both of these songs
5 note rolls aren't too horrible. Just go slow with them until your fingers learn the pattern, and before you know it you can do them pretty fast I haven't perfected them yet, but am having fun with them

You are right. I don't mind the five note rolls once I tried them. They are definitely more "scary" to look at on paper. The Hot Violinist has a series on them on youtube for The Kiss. She simplifies it a bit. At least that is what I recall I did back in the day. Also my violin friend (that has since moved to New York - wah boo hiss).... she showed me a bit on how to read them and play them. Gosh that was such a long time ago.
I admire you and all that you do so well. I struggled with bowing and many things in the beginning... so I retrain.
I finally disciplined myself last night, to spend more than 5 minutes on problem stuff. I was stretching that fourth finger and using my Essential book and my tuner and Hundreds of bowed c major scales.
I have to say when I have practice sessions on things like that I get frustrated, but I also get inspired. Using the fourth finger for A and E (D and A string) has been a downfall of mine and I have no excuse, except wanting things to sound better faster...and ...
I think sometimes it was something I left out to "catch" up with everyone, or to play a song that was out of my skill set, so I cheated like a criminal.
My good violin friend (JF) mentioned for me to work on fourth finger, so I am. I hope to check in with good news on this.
Anyway... Your videos are great, your playing is awesome and sorry to ramble off topic of your TERRIFIC progress.

coolpinkone No problem, I'm good with rambling
Oh that evil 4th finger. These two songs I've been working on actually needed them... usually these Irish songs are ok with an open string, but these two needed that evil tiny little finger. I can't play the note as loud as I can the others, so it always sounds a little weak. I'm at least getting better and rocking my hand forward to actually let my pinky reach its mark. Ug, that evil little finger, lol.
I have a hard time slowing down and working out problems... I like to kind of just plow ahead and let the problem spots work themselves out "eventually", but then I end up with parts of songs I don't play as well as other parts, when just slowing down for 5 minutes and focusing on whatever is throwing me would probably fix that, lol. So I totally understand having a hard time sitting and working through problems.
And yes, 5 note rolls look very scary on paper, lol. I remember looking at them thinking "I'm supposed to do all that in the space of a note?" My teacher is going to skip ahead next week and show me an open string roll which should be interesting.
But I know you can do it Make that little pinky submit and obey

kim-d A first finger 5 note roll on the A string would be played as "B D B A B" or in fingers "1 3 1 0 1"

Revisiting one of the first jigs I learned:
edit to add my first vibrato tune... My teacher recently switched me from wrist vibrato to arm vibrato due to an old thumb injury that was being awakened from practice, and this is after about a week of trying to switch, I think I'm still doing a combo, but my thumb doesn't hurt anymore.
I was gong to post this one as a critique video, since it is my first vibrato song, but I was posting from my iPad and it was hard enough to get the forum to behave long enough to just post here, lol, so I just gave up and put it all on this thread.
