Heres a short video of my new 16" fiddlerman artist viola that arrived today. Thought it was time to expand the tool box a little. Did a little short "cinematic" unboxing thing thats a little over cooked but had fun today when I got home and was able to get to open 'er up and give it a play. Im very happy with it. Nice little tuner included, great bow, shoulder rest fine. anyway...here she is...

@ABitRusty -
Great News!
💖 It's a BEAUTIFUL, Fiddlerman Artist VIOLA - and sounds WONDERFUL! 💖
Do you find it any more difficult to play?
Are you still using your Violin bow for your Viola?
What strings?
😉... deep down, was hoping you'd take a walk on the DARKER side, with a 5-string - restrung A, D, G, C, F!
Ooooo... you could still restring yours D, G, C, F - then tune down all the strings 1 whole step for Cajun tuning!
So exciting!
...my big Viola day is getting closer! 😊

hey thanks @Mark.. yeah i have to be careful there! i kept thinking about ocatve strings for one of the fiddles but just bit on this.
@elcbk for what i play and being in first..no shifting or vibrato it felt natural. it probably helped im a little more heavy handed on bowing maybe? Pretty much picked it up and got a decent sound right off. The thing thats gonna be tricky to get down is the fingering for tunes i know will have to change a little. Ill jump keys if i dont think..viola... or will i? hmm ..yeah the muscle memory for where stuff is may trip me up. hopefully not on fiddle now.
I was wondering about cross tuning. it would be easier if it was tuned d g a e .(<--- well thats dumb. EDIT ADDED 🤣 )....ive no idea about restringing or cross tuning on it. i rarely have done that on fiddle. so you can buy strings that are made to go d g c f? but then how would that change its sound. its exactly what i hoped it would sound like right now.
congrats on yours too! i know its been a long wait thinking about it and now getting it. have you got the something good is on its way message yet? 😃

LOVED YOUR VIDEO!
Really sounds great layering Fiddle, Guitar and VIOLA!
Yes, I received my notice, yesterday!
Wish Sensicore still made an 'F' string & 'Octave' strings -
No bridge or peg modification needed.
Want to go L O W... ER!
D A R K... ER!
*edited because Sensicore discontinued these!

nice looking intrument and sounds really good. Mozart liked the viola more than violin but couldnt play very well because he had short arms, so you are in good company, dont mean with short arms, but with taste

too funny @stringy.. it seems ok. i didnt measure but figured it would be ok with fiddle being main thing i spend the most time on. thanks!
@mouse a cello will for sure be added down the road. i wouldve went that route and honestly spent more time looking at them but i thought i could get quicker use out of the viola for now. thanks!
@SharonC just trying to mix it up a bit. got some ideas from jims blog and thought a good place to try them out. thank you!
