This is a friend playing my great grandmothers fiddle at the Old time jam Ive been visiting. I recorded it with my phone to take home and learn something but I noticed when watching it back....His bow hold is TUF like some of yall. His left hand wrist posisiton is correct, He places his fingers on the tips and has good technique...and he says hes never had a lesson. He learned by ear off of records back in his day. So hours of listening and replaying on vinyl records to learn what he wanted. Thought Id share. Now I know what it could sound like, I guess I will stop blaming the instrument. ha ha

Experience will show that there is ALWAYS some reason for a less than stellar performance.  The excuses only become better disguised by virtue of sophistication.

I have some remarkably clever rationales for anything.

I think it's amazing that he can play standing on the wall.
