Hi!
I've been playing violin for about 4 or 5 years now and am just beginning grade 4.
I'm very interested in music theory and wish to become a songwriter one day (I also play the guitar) so I've decided to begin trying to compose stuff. Here's what I've done so far on my first ever violin composition that I threw together on MuseScore, I call it "ANGRY VIOLINS." (Sheet music attached as image). It was somewhat inspired by Chanson Boheme by Bizet, don't know if that carried through to the final piece though.
Now, I haven't tried playing it yet cause I'm not very good at...well, playing xD But I thought I'd upload it anyway to see what people think 🙂

Oh... I was going to say - post the MuseScore .mscz file - but of course you cannot ( well, you can POST it - but no-one to my best knowledge will see it... hmm ) - it's short - so I'll just transcribe it myself into MS... I cannot hear it in my head by just looking at the sheet... I'm not "quite there" yet... LOL - I'll get back to you on this... LOL
But it's fun to see folks creating their own stuff... I do this kind of thing with MS as well, but more often just go to the instrument itself, to improvise and "bring a new tune to life" rather than trying to score it.... just different paths - neither better nor worse than the other, methinks...
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -
Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

The only way I could listen to that was to play it on the piano, as the key signature is too difficult for me on the violin (which I suspect is why you aren't getting much feedback on it so far). It sounds fine to me, though I had to imagine how it would sound on 2 violins.
I think in the last bar you meant violin 2 to return to an Ab for the last 2 beats?

That's a lot of flats!Yep. Welcome to Cb Major. Probably my least favourite key to play in. So in hindsight it was probably silly to write a piece in it but never mind haha.
Well, Cb Major is really just the Key of B right? That would be written with 5 sharps instead of 7 flats and would be quite a bit easier for most people to grok. Slide it all down a whole step, or better yet, up a half step and it's easier still.

It's actually in Ab minor, but the same argument applies.
Yea, I just looked at the words not the score. Then, G# minor is an improvement, but up a half step to A minor would move it from intimidating to easy peasy lemon squeezy. Then if for some strange reason it really needed to be played in Ab minor/G# minor, one could just tune the fiddle down a half step. I do that with my guitars all the time, they are almost always tuned to E# rather than E, because it makes bending heavy strings easier.
