I love the party themed play alongs. Even dared to join a few myself. Well after a trip to the mountain get away, and a discussion of outside recordings I finally gave this a go myself. (I still intend to bring the fiddle to the mountain top and play a few tunes, perhaps waiting for the Traveler to arrive, but that will depend on the season it gets to this neck of the woods).

My idea for a party will be anything outdoors with the theme of your song variable according to your surroundings.. e.g. "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" next to a swing set, "Foggy Mountain breakdown" with mountains in the scene, "Orange Blossom" "Midnight Train" with tracks or a station in the back ground ... etc. Hope you get the idea. Just trying to make it fun.

Here's my submission.  "Down to the River to Pray", a traditional American song variously described as a Christian folk hymn, an African-American spiritual, an Appalachian song, and a gospel song. (wiki).

Yayyyy !   Great idea @Ripton - and - certainly in northern hemisphere with spring (allegedly) coming we could get some nice outdoors vids.

Nice work clapclap, thanks for the post and kicking this new party off ! thumbs-up

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

Oh super fun idea.

Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

Very cool idea! Now to decide on a tune that would relate to our backyard. With all the wild turkeys around right now, I'd do Turkey in the Straw, that is if I could get them to stay in the shot.

ostrich-chase<< closest thing to a turkey that I could find.

BTW, I knew by the title that you had started this thread, @Ripton . :)

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

Haha, allegedly is right, especially after the snow storm we had here over the weekend, lol.

Good job, and good idea, @Ripton ! My personal backyard isn't very scenic, but my "second backyard", the local park, is, lol. The challenge will be to pick a song that I can play well enough to record, and that goes along with the scenery, lol.

Great idea for a party, @Ripton , and I like the piece you chose to kick off the party.

Now, to think of the right match between my locations and pieces... I play some pieces that would go well in certain settings, but not settings I can easily arrange here. And the pieces that go in accessible settings are ones I don't know yet. Guess that is part of the fun, figuring out the best piece and place combination!
