Thank you for the extension, I never realised how camera shy I really am, I need to shake of this tension. It feels like I have done 1000 takes and I just haven't made it anywhere close to how I can when the camera isn't rolling... even when I forget to hit record.
And then I have to remind myself, its only been four months since you picked up this incredibly tricky instrument. Breathe.
So I will keep trying, I have a few takes that I would consider Ok, but I'm just a perfectionist I guess.

LOL Pierre - what we have here is a variant of Parkinson's Law - "Practice expands so as to fill the time available for its completion"
EDIT: That was in reference to a few posts back - the time extension, not the above convo... and you'll be fine there, @Dani_B
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -

Even thought Pierre is the nicest of guys and the best bud around.. I still get shy when I am recording "for his ears only"... I always want to do him proud and in my mind I am always wanting him to have an easy go at my recording.. not a tough time.
I am thankful for the extra five days for this one little part that has been giving me He...
Vibrato Desperato.... Desperately seeking vibrato

Scratch that last remark. I spent the evening recording a different part, and let's just say I want to SCREAM. Seriously, it's pretty brutal! My intonation is terrible, my bowing is shaky, and my timing is nothing to write home about. Am I the only one who really sucks at this? Because I sure could use some company in my misery. LOL!
Let the bow flow.

Didn't I just think the same exact thing. However, after 2 months out of life studying for my certification exam, I am now free to once again dabble with the dark fiddle. SO GLAD I have a few more days to pull this together... Fingers crossed.

Well, the universe is trying to tell me not to participate in this project, but I am not taking the hint!
As I mentioned before, I had a bad fall and had injuries, including my hands. My teacher told me not to play violin until I saw a hand doctor. I saw one and he said my hands will hurt for a while and started me on physical therapy, but he said I could play through the pain if I wanted to and it would not cause further harm.
Great! So, I decide to record for the project. While setting up I dropped my good violin and the fingerboard popped off!
Am I taking the hint yet? No! Though upset, I get out my other violin, which sounds terrible compared to the good one, but I am determined to get this done!
I had to shut off my window unit air conditioner for the sound recording and it was hot as blazes in my house.
BUT I DID IT! I am submitting recordings to this wonderful project! I did violins 1,2,3 and 4. I got excited by the idea of being a one woman quartet!
I experienced the same as most of you posting in that I did a zillion takes and I am not completely happy with any of them. I'm in that boat with you.
So, here are my excuses, Fiddlerman -- I would have done better if I hadn't bashed up my hands in my fall, if I hadn't broken my good violin and if my house wasn't 100 degrees inside!
I'll submit my files soon. Les is still working on a cello submission. If he can get to where he's happy with his rendition he'll send it in.
Fiddlerman, thanks for having this project and writing this cool arrangement for us. I'm psyched about collaborating with people all over the world!
