Hi, Mad_Wed!  In measure 6 of V1 I don't think you need to think in 12/8.  You can keep your brain in 4/4.  A couple years back someone told me to think of two 8th notes in 4/4 as making the word apple, like AP-PLE, all in the one beat.  A triplet in 4/4 is like the word chocolate, like CHOC-O-LATE, said in the one beat.  So, in measure 6, say it to yourself like::

AP-PLE CHOC-CO-LATE AP-PLE AP-PLE

Of course, don't bow on the syllable on the tie, but you get the idea of how to think of it to get the rhythm.

Fiddlerman, I hope I am not steering Mad_Wed wrong.  I think it works for me, though!

Aaaaand i'm having a question (or two XD)!

1) I'm mesmerized with V2. Measure 48: those are 64ths, aren't they? I've never played something that has so many lines, so i might be mistaken... And if those are 64ths, then first 8 notes in that bar should be played all in a duration of an 8th note (i'm still trying to count while playing =) - eternal war with my sense of tempo).

2) How do you guys switch your brains from 4/4 to 12/8 to play triplets? Especially in 6th bar of V1? Triplets are nice when they all triplets in one bar, but when it's only one triplet and the others are usual - it's brain-blowing-up! How do you count them?

Thanks a lot if somebody shares with the thoughts!

Finally recorded some demo videos. They are far from perfect but I had a little time and figured that a quick run through was better than nothing. If I had to wait for time to practice and do a perfect job it might never happen. LOL

Sorry for the imperfections!

When the Demo's showed up in my youtube subscriptions it grabbed me, I am a complete beginner at violin, but I think I might be able to pull something together that sounds at least a little bit like it should. Even if I miss the deadline for this group project, I'm not giving up.... Challenge accepted!

Thanks a lot for the vids, Pierre! If someday i'll get somewhere near to that "imperfection" - i'll feel myself like a real violinist, LOL! Thanks for the explanation of those 64th at the end of V2 video!

I should have done it over again. I did these too fast and did not concentrate on the sheet music. Sorry. Just figured it could be better to do it OK rather than feel guilty day after day about not getting around to it.

I did promise a more simple part. I hope to find time to look at that soon.

Pierre... Just so you know.. I am not bitching.. I am just laughing at my attempts..

AND I have improved on measure 34-38 on Violin 1 ...about 50 percent... WOO WOO!!!! (certainly not bragging .. YET) ha hahah

I find humor in the challenge.... I will either make the cut or not...  This one.. .well some of the other parts seem challenging too.

I am happy to give it a shot.  I bet it is going to sound Epic.

*however if you find time for some BABY melody part...Or maybe some castanet or finger snapping parts???   LOLOLOL  .. I might love you for ever.. LOLOLO*****

Come ON PEEPS>>> keep on doing it... This is OUR homework.. Our project... Our recital!!~~~~~

In practice today I played along with the v3 video and managed to keep up, the video also helped me a tonne where I was getting lost, still a bit slow on some parts but it's getting there.  For kicks I thought I'd play along with the v1 part, the only bit I couldn't keep up with was the top 2 lines on the second page, wow that's fast.  I can play it slow but not up to tempo yet.

@mischa91 congrats on the progress you are making.

I am having trouble getting the measure 34-38 etc up to temp.  I actually took a bit of a break on this for a couple days.  I will resume practice this weekend and see where I can get with V1 or any part of the song.

Good luck... keep it up.

I would also like a deadline extension, i've got a college exam the day after the videos are due... another month would really be good.

The extension is granted. How much time should we give to it? I also need to find time to write a simple part..... Vln/vla #5 :)

Oh, whew! A couple more weeks would be good, IMHO. And I would love to see another simpler part. All the other parts are tough! Especially the second half.

I would like to know the date of the new deadline.  I don't want to miss it!violin I'm new to the forum and have parts 1 and 3 pretty much ready to go.  I started practicing parts 2 and 4 today.  Just got my first violin in August of 2014 and am really enjoying studying with Fiddlerman!

The original deadline was June 8th and I promised to extend it by a month since I was so slow at making demos.....

Let's make it July 8th. :)

Is this cool with everyone???

Great! Now I definitely have time to do more than 1 part. :)

I was planning on doing V2 and one other part. Is there a part that needs extra support you'd like me to do?
