LOL!!  But I like my neigbors!

Though you might be interested to know, putting a practice mute on an electric violin qctually produces a decidedly compressed sound that is surprisingly warm and rather pleasant through the headphones.

I tend to do most of my practicing at like 2am in the morning so I am very conscious of the possibility of disturbing the neighbors. Even on my silent violin, I've got a steel thomastik E that is very ringy. And even though it shouldn't carry very far it was making me nervous. So I took your suggestion on plopped a practice mute onto my already silent violin to see what would happen. And it turns out to be pretty good :)

Ahhhh, didn't realize that you were playing an electric violin. LOL
Glad that you like your neighbors.

@FirstPancake - I am glad to know that the mute even makes the EV even more silent.  That is good to know. :)

LOL !

Anyway - been talking to someone on the forum, and they were having an issue following the click-track ( come on, count 1,2,3,4 LOL ) - but - since I already posted a MuseScore version for Vln1, here is the 1b part.   Personally, I can get through the 1b OK, the original Vln1 I manage "properly" about once in 4 or 5 times in the bars 33 thru 45 or so.

So here is the Vln1b part - and - of course if you use it as the "click/play-along" track you'll see the play-position scroll along and maybe help with the cut-in point following the longish rests....   and of course - if you do use it - make sure its audio isn't present in your final take.... LOL....

Final point - although I HAVE uploaded and posted the .mscz file - I NEVER see these files actually appearing in my post when I view it - so if you do want it but cannot see it in this post - PM me with email address.....

Cheers,

BillyG

EDIT: Oh, and of course (although you can do this in other ways with other software and the mp3 file of course) with the MuseScore version you can easily select any number of bars, and just loop forever, for practice over the "difficult bits" ( still working on that on the original vln1 part - but it is handy to have.  You can also drop the tempo in the "Play Panel" to work on it more slowly )

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

Ok here's my best of my blunders... Out take on Viola 3 for Fiddlerman's House of the Rising Sun project. Note at 1:58 I get lost and just sort of take off and ad lib my performance. When all else fails, start again thanks to replay. Not in the cards for me. Fortunately take 3 was a lot better. Thanks for watching. Hope you had a good chuckle. Vla3 take 2
