I have just started learning the violin but i am still quite a quick pace learner. I have just recently learned how to play Bad Romance by Lady Gaga, but just a few sequences.
I have also learned to play 1 part of The Legend of Dark Mountain, half of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and a part of Hot, Hot, Hot.
Hopefully, i can learn a full song along the way.
I may not be very high on the top Winning Quota, being not very experienced at my age of 12, but I do love the violin sincerely.
My interest in violins started when my best friend joined orchestra. Seeing everyone in orchestra never complaining about it made me give playing the violin a second chance.
I started going to every performance, practice, event, celebration, preparing time, and after-school rehearsal. I have or never had been so up for somethinq as this.
I think i should win the Black Metallic Electric Silent Violin because it gives me hope in having my grandmother appreciate the violin, and so i can have an item that is my own that i can love and appreciate other than an old scratched-up violin

Hey Dezy,
May I ask how you are learning these songs? Such as Lady Gaga's? LOL That's g8. Are you learning the songs by tab, music theory (sheet msuic), CDs, DVDs or teachers???? I am interetsed in learning songs, but I do not have a teacher. You might, but if you don't let me know what method you are using to learn the songs.
Blessings to you,

i'm not sure if you would consider someone living in Asia.. still, there's no harm in trying..
Winning the violin would bring something magical in my life. It would provide me a way to inspire my younger sister in rekindling her love for playing the violin. My sister used to love the violin so much. She would play it everyday, read endless forums, and watch videos. Unfortunately, our family is currently experiencing a great difficulty. My brother fell into comatose last March and our finances are not doing great either. Somehow, the world stopped for us. The reason why I wanted to win the violin is to let my sister feel that somehow things will get better. That we may not understand what's happening but there are still things available in the world to be enjoyed. I just want to cheer her up and let her know that things will be OK. She had always wanted an electric violin. I can't afford it right now. When I saw this post, it spoke to me. This could be a way for me to bring hope back in our life. Something that would remind us that good things still happen everyday. It would mean so much to us.
Thank you for providing a chance for people to dream on something they love.

I'm new here, but I would truly love to win this black violin. You see, it isn't for myself that I wish for this violin, it's for my sister. She loves music. She spends nights just playing on our cousin's old guitar, and she diligently tries her hardest to be the best she can be. But she has ALWAYS wanted to learn how to play the fiddle. You see, she is a country girl at heart, and even though we live in south Florida, surrounded by Latino culture and music, she's country.
I don't have the money to buy her a violin, since I myself just graduated from high school, and I'm off to college to study computer animation(I want to work for pixar, it's been my dream for many years now), and my parents don't have the money to spend on a violin either. My dad is a teacher, and my mother is a real estate agent. So we obviously do not have a high income.
My sister is hard working. And she is trying to juggle school and her job, and even so, she tries to play at least a little bit of guitar every night. She is always taking care of me, and she is always trying to do what's right. She volunteers at Miami Childrens Hospital every week. Always making new activities for the children, trying to lift up their spirits.
When I saw this on YouTube, I felt like THIS would finally be a great opportunity to give something back to my sister. She deserves so much and asks for so little. This is my chance to repay her for all of her kindness.
Reading all of the other posts, I can see that everyone is deserving of this chance. I just hope that I can be given some consideration too, because I want to give my sister as much as I can.

I'm just learning how to play the violin as a hobby, and for my future career as a music educator. I'm a brass player by trade, but I figure that I need to know my strings instruments as well, so violin was the easiest (and most affordable) that I could obtain. If I was given the opportunity to win this electric violin, I would use the one I own (a Mendini MV-Black) as a loaner violin to people who are interested to learn the violin after I figure out everything. I'm also interested in being able to record covers of songs (or creating my own) in Garageband, and an electric instrument records better when I do them. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my post, and for hosting the contest!!

Just joined a local band and my classic violin doesn't allow me to move around and still be heard well over the microphone. The electric violin will also offer me other performance options the classic doesn't. I will be a senior in high school this next year and will still need to keep my current violin in good shape for symphony and orchestra school performances. Definitely have the music bug and want to expand my performance experiences and knowledge this violin would be a very nice next step!

Hi Fiddlerman
My 1st post here! I recently found your site from researching the Celicio violins sold on Ebay& wanted to thank you a ton on actually playing/reviewing them - not only are your vids completely informative but they're literally the only comprehensive video reviews out there for these budget Cecilios - something that always kept me from even considering saving up for, the not knowing sound/quality... & reading up on your history/watching your vids, I'm sure you could make any violin sound awesome but for the record(& price) all the Cecilios you've reviewed so far sound great! So thanks for that, now I know exactly their quality/capability.
Also wanted to thank you for the great informative site you've created, it's given me the opportunity to learn a lot about playing the violin(which I've always wanted to do since forever!!) which leads me into your current Electric Violin giveaway.
Between limited funds, not knowing where to look& school/apt. living, this electric violin would finally give me the opportunity to do what I've been wanting to do for yrs, learn to play violin(without disturbing neighbors). I would be beyond ecstatic to finally fulfill my love of strings!
I did have a question - the Cecilio electric violin comes in 4 different style bodies, a full body(the one you're giving away), upper cutaway, bottom cutaway& full cutaway(like your Zeta). Could you give me your opinion on which is best, if any. I know that weight is involved as well as easier reach on the upper frets but I wanted to know if there's anything else I should know or consider.. just in case I don't win, I can save up& know for future reference Thanks so much for your help!

I should win this violin because, well, uh, come to think of it there is no special reason I should win it and not someone else. It would give me something constructive to work on while I hunt for a job!!!!!! It may help influence my two kids (3 and 5) to be interested in music. It may drive my wife nuts as I squeak and saw on it!!!!

Hi Fiddlerman,
Just watched your vids at youtube and I love it! It´s a pleasure to speak to such passioned and motivated person in sharing good music information; I really apreciate your initiative ´cause I know how hard is to find (and afford) this beautifull instrument and its lessons.
About me, my name is Nadia, in 26 old and I live in Brazil. Here I study at the Public University of São Paulo. My love affair with the violin has started by the time I saw someone playing it. I was 13 but took me an year to find any violin to buy and find a teacher. I kept improving all my techniques in music and I decided to go to the public university and be a professional musician. Back there, my family financed me a good violin and I could study for 1 year. I studied with a russian teacher, met and had classes with great musicians of my country. I teached as a volunteer in a high school, and I used to play at weddings and events. Unfortunately, this is a hard country to live in, and so, I had to sell the violin and stop my bachelor and my musician carrier..
As any good brazilian, I persuit my goals as I can... once in a while a friend lends me his violin, but I don´t have one till now. I begun another degree and receive a scholarship suport. As I can´t play violin anymore, I sing . I sing at the university chorus and I teach singing at my mother-in-law churchs on the weekends. In the university I sing popular brazilians songs and a mix of gregorians, spanish and english medievals enchants. At church, I have a vocal group that praises at the cult.
In despite of the distance, I´d like to be considered on the raffle of the violin, ´cause here, even if I could afford to buy an instrument, I couldn´t find a good one like this cecilio´s one (not even amazon´s salers ship to where I live!). If I would be the happy winner, I would show this magnificent art to my communitie (at the university, at church, to the city, and across the others campus in state), help supporting more cultural events in my city, and could play the violin (my dazzling passion!) again, I could earn my own money and be a musician again!
Anyway, thanks for the attention. Helping people like u, Fiddlerman, are the one´s who make this world better and more manageable to live. Keep up the good work!
Best wishes to all!

My name is Brett and i am 15 years old and i am a beginner at the violin. I bought a cheep violin for 30 dollars and it is not a very good violin. the strings always break and are very squeaky. The bow hairs keep falling off. I have been do work for my parents to earn money for a electric violin. I have been working for a very long time and still do not have a enough money to by a electric violin. I have been practicing on my old violin really heard . I have just started to play the violin and have taught myself how to play a little. Even though i have practiced very hard i am still not very good. The only time i have to practice is at night and it is annoying to my mom and brother to have to hear me play at night so, it would be good if i won the electric violin so that i could use the headphones so that my mom and brother do not have to hear me at night. I Had a face tumor , it was cancer free but, i still had to have surgery this year to remove it.I recover from surgery very well and would like to win the electric violin as a gift for my tumor being cancer free. if i won the electric violin i would take good care of it. I would practices very hard everyday.

Well, seeing all these posts make me a little ashamed of myself for wanting it when others don't have an instrument to play with. But on the other hand, what a waste if it goes to someone who can't use it to it's full potential. I also noticed the word "Raffled" humm, that's odd, considering this is some sort of essay contest.
A violin must be loved, and played as much as possible. A violin must be used to its fullest for the greater effect of letting others enjoy the music. A violin is an extension of your will, a tool to your chosen end. An electric violin is an instrument that lends itself well to amplification, therefore it works best with a band. I firmly believe in those things, and in addition the monitors are very difficult to use for playing, especially when you're on a 20foot wide stage and bass drums and players drowning our your monitor. The CEVN-1BK has the features I need to be effective in our team, and although I can't guarantee that I'll be the best choice, but I'll do my best, and leave the rest to you guys.
PS. To the beginners, there are 5-6 more beginner type violins up for grabs(I think) so keep trying and praying. (Not that I'm dissing your chances anyway)

Raffled doesn't have much to do with an essay. I'm pretty sure it means that the people that post on this forum wanting to win the violin, meeting the minimum requirements for the contest will have their names thrown in a hat. Then your name could be picked by a random drawing out of the hat to win the violin.
