@Fiddlerman

I love that you did this piece.   So lovely ... I saw it while listening to violin samples @ fiddleshop.  I am drawn to the song....and really drawn to the violin.   Do you like to answer questions on the violins for sale here in the forum or better to pm?

Again .... Love love that you did that piece.   It is a work in progress for me... I like how you played the first  e e e g segments. The "slide" (?) adds to it and keeps it interesting.

@Fiddlerman

Hi Pierre.   As things would go in my violin playing world, I am thinking or hoping to upgrade.

Looking through the pricing at the shop I had a question on the actual price versus the red pricing?  Is this a sale price? Discount price?

I notice the soloist violin has just the one price.   Would you be able to talk about the difference in the Cremona Krielser violin vs the soloist?   I keep listening to the two violins and the soloist seems to call.  Thoughts on either violin for a very green one year player?  And could you tell me where each violin is made.   I seem to recall that one, I believe the Kriesler's body is hand made by a luthier?  If I remember correctly.

It is very nice that you have sound sample videos.  The other shop I am looking at does not have this ( ONLY looking because I have $200 trade in credit).

Oh and yet another question... Is there another violin that you carry that would carry a new but advancing player through 3-5 years of advancement with out having to change..( I hate change). One that is European made and in the same or lower price

What has prompted my desire to change violins is that I had opportunity to play with a new friends violin.... And hers is hand made 1901... And she has been playing on that particular one for 15 years... Anyway.  Playing on her violin I was able to play so much easier.  It is hard to explain, but it was just playing and smooth, and it did not scratch.

I did not have to press hard with the Bow or my fingers.. Sound just flowed ...

 I have been playing more than ever and putting in a lot of practice and I am frustrated with the results of the playing when I am doing things right.... Or mostly right if that makes sense.  Then I took my songs and played on hers and it sounded so good and it seemed that my hard work paid off.

She has been playing for 20 years and she said it was much better.  She played my violin.. And of course it sounded better than I , but she said it even scratches on her... And  she thinks it might be holding me back.  Meaning I work hard on my violin and I cant hear the results of my work.. I get the reward of technically playing it right.. But not to my ear.

My player mentor friend did not seem to think new strings are the answer.  Although I I do want to try that anyway.

Oh... To anyone reading... I have a nice violin.. I did not buy it from FS.

Any Thoughts would be great Pierre.  No hurry I am choosing very very carefully this time.  I want to go around and play violins.. It is intimidating.. I don't want to waste people on Craig's list time.. And i am not that confident in myself or trusting off other violin sales people... Although as a whole violin people seem to be most wonderful from my experience here.

So sorry this is so long.   :)

We would also honor your $200 trade in credit if you are interested in that. I recommend the GCV Kreisler. It's made by GCV violins in China who have won many awards for their instruments.

The soloist is also made by a very reputable Chinese luthier. The same instrument sells at other shops for closer to $2000

@Fiddlerman

Thank you Pierre.   How thrilling... Thanks for the recommendation..... I really want that Cremona Kreisler .. It was my choice.... But you had to go play Sad Romance.... And then the angel  engraved / decoration on the Soloist....  So I am torn..

thanks for the reply.... This is awesome!  Thank you!

@coolpinkone,

You have no idea how timely your questions about the two violins were.

I was getting ready to ask Pierre similar things, but you beat me to it.....lol!

That's why I love it here though, it's helpful on so many levels.

Anyway, the Soloist and GCV Kreisler are both exceptional, and I also found myself torn between the two.

It's been a long over do upgrade (have had my Glaesel student level violin for 17 yrs. now), but I finally decided on the Soloist and the Endeavor case.

There's just something special about it's warm sound, and the look of the boxwood fittings just adds even more personality to it.

So got it ordered from Fiddlershop of course, and here I am posting at 3:00 am because I'm too excited to sleep now!

We shipped the last soloist that we had in stock today but rest assured they are on their way Feathers. The order that went out today was ordered on Friday. I'll hand pick a good one for you since you will have to wait. :-)

@Fiddlerman,

Thank you so much - Wow, knowing you're going to personally select it will make it even more special, and give me extra peace of mind.

Just for the record, I did receive a nice note/update from the shop this morning toosmile

Thank you feathers... I am still torn between the two violins....  Soloist calls to me ... But I can't resist the sound of the Kreisler.   I have time to think ... Much time.

Alright, along the same lines, I have a question for you guys:  I'm currently rocking an Amazon special violin (Very cheap, wanted to make sure I was going to enjoy playing before I went all in) so I'm looking for an upgrade here in the next few months.

I'm currently eye-balling the Fiddlerman Concert Violin, and the Johannes Kohr K500.  I'm curious if anyone has either of these, if anyone has played both, and if you guys would have any recommendations.  My ears are not yet sensitive enough to really tell the difference in sound on the videos, they both look beautiful to me, and I know they would both be an upgrade from what I currently have and will be in my price range.  So the real question is:  Which one will give me the most bang for my buck and keep me happiest longest?

There is no failure, only results.

Hi, I just registered here, I found your channel in youtube, I'm not a beginner and I want to buy a light 15" viola (since I had several heart surgeries), I watched your reviews on Cecilio violas, I'm not sure what to do, appreciate your help:)

Welcome to the forum sahar,

Yes we've had quite a few conversations on youtube and hopefully you'll stick around here after you get your new viola as well. I sent you a few suggestions and hopefully we can help you out.
