Did you have the sound playing through the speakers, ot through a headset/earphones?

If you have the sound through the SPEAKERS - then - the mic will catch the sound from the speakers and "send it back out" - and it will get sent back again - hence the echo

...  if it was "OK" before, but not now 0- it's maybe just the volume on the speakers - turn it down so the open mic doesn't pick it up - or - use headphones for the test phase...

My screen froze up so I bailed lol.  I didn't know if it was still sending or not.

Ah that was it I'm sure.  I probably had the mute on last time when I checked.  Thanks.

Thanks for the tips all.  I couldn't see who gave them to me because that part of the screen froze up!  Ugh.

With violins there is no fretting over the music.

It was fantastic !!  I enjoyed each and every fiddler. Big thanks to Billy Gunn for sticking it out with us even though it was the wee hours of the morning for him.

Billy was the perfect man to open the evening with a great dedication speech

Dennis got up there and performed like he'd been doing this his whole life. If he was nervous it didnt show, and he made that violin sing.

I was like a proud Poppa watching Toni overcome her jitters and deliver an outstanding performance.

Sadly Juan lost his internet connection or something, but we all stood by for at least 10 minutes hoping he would work it out, but it didnt happen.

Robin.. wow, she brought it home with an outstanding performance of old time fiddlin' , she had us all toe tappin'

Paul filled in a 15 minute slot and blew us all away when he played the fiddle on his head..youre Hendrix buddy jimi-hendrix

Diane gave us an amazing performance , her renditions were of very high quality and her backing tracks were beautiful. Congrats on the new mic Diane, was way better then that built in one !!  crystal clear !!

LeeAnn played a couple during my set and as always she amazes me how she can not touch it for weeks and still just jumps right in there. She has an excellent ear and everything she has learned has been from listening to me then picking up the fiddle and playing it. If she got serious I think she'd make us all look bad..lol

Georganne closed out the evening with some great fiddle tunes from the land of the midnight sun. She made me feel like we were sitting in her house enjoying the fiddle like old friends.

In closing, each of you made it one of the most enjoyable evenings of music that Ive had in some time. I know next year theres a few things we can tweak, such as listing how long our shows will be in our headline so we dont have blank slots, but it worked out anyway

Well, I have to admit I was about as nervous as a high school freshman at the senior prom! I had planned it out even to cheat sheet notes that told me to turn down my speakers for the various tracks I was going to play with, 'cause I knew I couldn't remember! dazed

I rosined up the various bows in case of issues with any of them and made sure my 9v battery was fresh in my effect-box, then had my amp on for at least an hour before show time to make sure it was stabilized.

Turned off the fireplace insert circulation fan and TV sound, and did all the personal stuff I had to do so that wouldn't be a problem mid show...

Damn, how do performers do this every day or week or whatever!? And move equipment too~! drummerdevil-violinviolin_girlparty

I must've moved my camera about 10x trying to find the perfect spot, don't know if it was or not. I was worried about the lighting as well 'cause my living room isn't the brightest place in the house.

Oh so much to do... preshow

I'm exhausted! facepalmcheers

Congratulations to all and especially to Barry! The StreetJelly Fiddlefest was a big success!

It was so nice to hear and see everyone play live, hear their voices and be able to converse via the chat window. It truly was like a get together with friends where each person shares a few of their favorite tunes.

Barry: Thanks for the kind comments. I'm so glad that my sound sounded better. As I said, I wasn't happy with the quality of my built-in mic and I couldn't get my external mic to work with StreetJelly when plugged directly in the 1/8" mini jack on my computer. So, I went out yesterday afternoon and bought a USB interface to use with my external mic. I know it's risky trying new equipment for the first time on show night, but thankfully it worked out.

BTW, I played with a concert mute on so my playing would sound less screechy to viewers and so I could hear my backing tracks without turning the volume way up.

I'm sorry that I missed Bill's @BillyG dedication speech. I tuned in after his show started.

I enjoyed Robin's @Feathers fiddling and the story shared about one of the tunes she played. I also really liked the tune so I put it in my to-learn list.

I though it was extremely cool that Dennis @cdennyb played The Traveler in his show. I wish that I had had presence of mind to get a screenshot of him with it to post in the Traveler thread.

It was great to see Barry and LeeAnne playing together. I can't believe that I missed Paul @fishnrodds playing his fiddle on his head. He was on right before me so I guess I was getting ready for my show at the time.

Toni @coolpinkone : you did a great job and played a nice assortment of pieces. I especially liked your fiddle tunes. I do believe you've got a fiddler's soul. :)

I'm sorry that I missed Georganne's @Georganne show. It was getting late and I had to go to bed.

With all the promotion we all did and judging by the number of viewers, I believe that the next SJ Fiddlefest will be even bigger. And I saw a comment from a SJ member about a Banjofest, so you've started something, Barry. StreetJelly isn't just for guitarists anymore.

Naska, you hit the nail on the head - it was FUN - and that's exactly the way I approached it.

I was probably paying less concentration on my playing than I should have because my mind was usually thinking ahead - I had nothing "scripted".   Being first-on I tried to take on the role of a master of ceremonies, making sure all parties involved in making the event possible were thanked and so on, padding out my tunes with a few short bits of chat, and generally to get folks relaxed into it and show that there really is nothing to be nervous about.....

I even got a plug in for FiddlerShop when I needed to wipe some excess rosin of the strings - lol - it's worth another plug - a personalized duster - received with a sound-post setting tool I ordered - now just how awesomely cool is that -

@BillyG - thanks for kicking off the evening - glad you had FUN - totally agree about the plug for FiddlerShop - well deserved. I ordered some strings, rosin, and violin wall hangers - I was VERY IMPRESSED with the excellent speedy service. Nice duster!semiquaver-1214
