This piece has proven to be very challanging to me!  I make it a part of every practice session even if just a few bars.

Still have not gotten the hang of the first part cross over bowing.

The second part with the scales wont sound right until you get the tempo and rythem correct even if you have the notes right.

I will keep trying and if I ever get it.  I will post it.

Good Luck and keep scratching!violin-student

Slur two and play two separate on the sixteenths. Is that what you are doing?
Also, do not use too much bow.

I am slurring most of the notes. I really seem to have a difficult time playing without. I think that I need to slow it down and practice that piece. I don't know that I will ever get the first part, with the crossovers and double stops.

still working on this on. It is one that I really want to be able to play. Could you do a piece on the transitions between the 3 parts (train is coming, shuffle, and scale - for lack of better descriptions) I feel like I should be able to learn those transitions by ear from your video but alas, I cannot.

i'm 2 weeks into this violin thing and though i would give this a go.

first thing, i have been holding my right thumb incorrectly causing cramping.  huh, i should have watched the "holding the bow" thing.

second, i think i might be going at this learning thing all wrong.  I might be better served to start slower, with the basics and all.

third, on the fast part of this song, with the 3rds, i did it fine slow and gradually tried to speed up.  That crashed like nascar.  i actually got it to sound correct by just going for it.  It was like the skies opened up and shined on me for about 10 seconds and then came the clouds.  so i stopped to come to my computer and bask in my 10 seconds.

Congratulations on getting the fast part for a while.
The truth is that you must start slowly and work your way up. Don't expect too much too quickly.

I know all about long lists. I will be patient violin-studentI just want to say how thankful that I am to have found this site. I think that it is great. Concerning this tune, I still struggle quite a bit with the shuffle portion. The scale portion, I can play pretty well, some of the time. It seems to sound better when I play the double stops fast versus slow. Actually it seems when I play on 2 strings, it usually seems to sound better when I play faster.

Ok,here is my first recorded attempt at this tune. I really hate how I can play something pretty decent unit I try to record myself.

It is a little choppy as I do not know the transitions between the parts or the ending

Thanks for your patience. smile
You'll have to remind me of how you wanted me to do the follow-up later.
I'll add it to my list of things to do....

The kid has a fantastic voice. Simon definately has a way about him. I think that's the first time i've ever seen him stand and applaud anyone.

I thought Povarate, past away way back in the early 60's, but not until 2007.

thumbs-up
