OMG Robyn you MUST post that video!
Sorry Georganne ... those bits weren't while the camera was actually switched on, so you'll just have to take my word for it. At the time it just wasn't funny ... but now of course it's hilarious!
If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

Have 'sprent' a file
However, I had an unexpected problem.
Over the years I've abused my ears somewhat (rifle, trap, and skeet shooting. Loud music, etc) and as a result I'm deaf in my left ear.
Up to now it's not been a problem with the violin. However it turns out to be a problem when trying to play with an earphone in my right (good) ear.
i can hear what is being played through the earphone but have great difficulty hearing the violin making it very difficult to play.
I'm going to have to work a way around this for the future projects as the recording for this one is not as good as I would have liked it to be.
Any ideas for a fix to this would be appreciated

Others in the past have used headsets rather than 'earbuds' although strictly speaking everyone is asked not to use visible earphones. In your case, I could see that it would be beneficial, though a mite clumsy looking. What they will do is amplify the sound without blocking out your own music. I always use a mining earplug in my left ear to try to block the violin's sound as I feel it gives me a more rounded sound within the room's acoustics. Make sense? Probably not, but I hear the violin better without using my left ear, which picks up noises from strings and bow scraping which are not actually audible on the recording.
If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

Hello, all. I really should go over to the newcomers' forum and introduce myself, but I just had a quick question first. Are audio-only soundtracks still okay? I was hoping to do both audio and video, but the fingerboard just fell off my violin this afternoon and the glue won't be dry in time to do video by tomorrow. (Audio is done already.)
I've really been looking forward to being part of one of your projects. It's one of the main reasons I joined the forum, so I hope audio is okay. If so I assume we should use MP3?

Welcome Peggy ... yes, yes, yes!
All members are encouraged to submit to the projects, whether it's video or audio alone, doesn't matter.
Glad you're joining us, just wait till you see the end result!
Next time you'll be able to include video, but your name is used in the credits anyway (unless you choose to be anonymous).
If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

Well.... I've been massively unambitious with this project – but I've got loads of excuses! Anyway, finally started practising properly on Friday and filmed today. That went quite a bit better than one might expect from someone who hasn't been playing regularly for nearly a year, but it still sounds a bit rubbish, especially the last few bars. I did V1 because I know the melody; that way I wouldn't have to learn how it's meant to sound...
Then I tried to sprend the file, but my internet kept dying. Trying again now. But since

By the way, I doubt that it will be too late to leave the video tomorrow. Maybe not even by Wed. I'm not that fast and SUPER busy.
maybe I'll try again tomorrow and hopefully manage better. I don't want to bring you guys down any more than necessary.
Also, Pierre: Is .mov all right? I could convert to .mp4, but that lowers the quality a lot. I know you use Mac too, so you can open .mov files, right?
~ Once you've ruled out the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be true. ~

I'm taking a break from recording. My 18 1/2 year old pomeranian won't stop barking. My stomach is growling loud enough to hear on tape. And my little old lady dog just walked into the power cord for the camcorder and nearly toppled everything over on the tile floor. Not to mention I was playing when this happened and nearly dropped the fiddle rushing to get her untangled and save the camera from certain doom.
This may be a very long night....
