Nice one @ABitRusty ! I've heard/played that tune, but under the name "Up in the air", not specifically "on a mountain". I guess there can be several names (that's confusing sometimes).

Funny trees yep ! the clouds have a rather unnatural motion too ;--).

@wtw -

Wow, "Up in The Air"!

I just checked, you are correct about the name - no 'mountain' about it & I shouldn't have assumed anything!

Thanks - really appreciate you are so observant!

It's a Kevin Burke tune, too.

@wtw thank you!  Yeah i named the VIDEO up on a mountain or something, but in the description i told a bit about the tune and that Kevin Burke wrote it with guitar player, I believe, Mícheál Ó Domhnaill.  Its pretty cool you knew the tune and recognized it from me playing..  makes me feel like im doing something right.

 and thanks for pointing out what it is!   I shouldnt have been so confusing in the naming.  Theres only one name and Hopefully nobody goes searching for up on a mountain or misty mountain and confuses the tunes. 🙂.  When I exported the scenery i had to name it something and hadnt picked a tune for it yet.   Never went back and changed the title. 😔

@elcbk

here is the fourum link for the whole thing posted in 2019.. I just used a snippet of this audio on the "up on a mountain" video

@ABitRusty -

Figured that's what happened.

Thanks for the link - definitely like the tune, great choice for your new virtual world!

Just feelin' bad I wasn't paying close enough attention & jumped to conclusions.

Usually I'm pretty good about checking music & descriptions... not that it does me any good anymore - can't even remember half of the names of tunes I've memorized. 😔

...I need an upgrade. (Ho, Ho, Ho!)

Geeze, @ABitRusty Our blizzards don't sound like a fiddle up here! We just get howling wind. Your blizzards are better.

LOVE your version of "The Girl I Left Behind Me"! 🤗

Beautiful SNOW!

I'm ashamed to say it looks like you've almost got more snow than ME!  Bet your hounds loved it!  Farther east & north of us gets more snow... might get a little more overnight, but we just got cold. 🥶

Daughter did tell me she saw a 'sundog' with the kids, the other day!

← got 'glow sticks'?

thanks @elcbk !  it was a good snow.  Reminds me of what we used to get when i was in grade school.  used to count on all of January being on a sledding hill.

@ABitRusty Your version of The Girl I Left Behind Me fits well with your video pics--wonderful playing!

No snow down here in central GA.  Every couple of years, we get some, and maybe it will stick to the ground.  When it does, people freak out and close everything--very different than when I lived up in NJ & NY.  It's pretty, but I don't miss the shoveling & scrapping ice off the car windshield. . . smile

playin angry here..lol.  not really but worked on this one tonight after going over in a class on Friday.  when she introduced it and started playing i recognized it right off.  But couldnt remember from where.   I mean..i knew i listened to it alot.  pulled my phone out and found its the 2nd tune paired with tell her i am on The Lonesome Touch album.

Im gonna practice those two together but tonight was trying to iron out the last phrase in B part.  fingers kept NOT doing the thing they were supposed to.   At one point i just dug in and hit it loud and this started coming out.  good or bad.  Sounded like a murder or nefarious activity.. lol.  so here. listen to this one 😂

I really like this. I like the rhythm and beats. Now, I know nothing about this type of music, what they are meant to be or anything. This is what I felt or pictured, and it was not anger.

I was picturing someone on a long walking trek and about there, and the end is a steep hill. I pictured this person determined to get over that hill. Every step, violin accent beat, was a leaden foot and determined to get up there, and inside, this person was happy and proud to be doing it, not angry and desperate about having to do it. I was picturing something like that when I was listening. It was very neat.

Like I said, I have no idea what fiddle music is about. I just like some fiddle music, and don't like others that remind me too much of jazz. This is one that I like and get some sort thoughts or pictures when listening to it.

thank you @Mark .  It really is a good tune, i agree.  Im gonna be playing this one a bunch.

@mouse thank you!  I kinda like the feel I had with the backing too.  I dont think its a normal type session jig backing, but im ok with that.  think its different.  Im working on getting my fiddle playing more light on this one though.  I think i sorta have it heavy handed right now...

@ABitRusty -

Just saw this!

FANGRY? 🤗 I LOVE IT!

Really nice groove - can feel your determination.

Love the sway of the grass, even noticed you made some of the leaves in the tree move, but what happened to your snow?

giphy.gif

...we just finally got enough snow to make me HAPPY. 😁

Woo hoo!  PERFECT TUNE for snowshoe treking!

Hank Williams jam...at an Irish Pub...In Switzerland.. just people enjoying music.  love it

Found the channel from this.  Great sounding sesh.  I havent played the wandering minstrel but it sounds very familiar so i think it gets played here.  maybe by another name.  What I like here is how familiar it all is. Banish Misfortune is banish misfortune.. Its the same tune played the same here...  and thats one of the things that makes this kind of music cool and enjoyable to me.

The key is not taking it too seriously.

thats how i explain posting these...lol

Playing slower.  Think i need to tack on at least another 20 bpm.  I felt more relaxed i think in the fiddle part.   The storm symbolizes the inner conflict in fiddling... one more try or go to bed..

@ABitRusty -

1st of all, I enjoyed the jam videos - appreciate you shared them!

This last "Gallegher's Frolics" - your playing was really wonderful to listen to!  I've thoroughly enjoyed seeing/hearing you progress & become more confident in your playing over these last few years!

You have definitely gotten the hang of Unreal Engine!!!  Think you fit the tune really well & I can tell you've put a lot of work into the video.  I'm impressed by how professional it looks & sounds! 🤗
