Thanks Mark ! I was away at the weekend down on the south coast it was roasting !! I didn’t take my violin ! So today did lots of practice ! Have to say mostly vibrato ! I think in a weird kind of a going round in circles way I’m getting there !! I still don’t 100% understand the motion . It’s very controversial as to whether it a roll or a collapse. Even if it’s a tiny collapse it’s still a completely different motion to a roll. The hand goes up and down !! I really need my teacher !! I am thinking everyone’s vibratos are slightly different and maybe my motion will become clearer. I’m going to keep doing the exercises from the basics book. One think I will say is that the pressing too hard issue I had is definitely improving . After an hour of practice there were only slight dents in my fingers! So for me that’s huge progress. ! But I know vibrato isn’t a priority , it’s just what I fancy doing at the moment !

Also we watched ‘Where the Crawdads sing’ last night ! I didn’t even know it was a film but I have read the book! And how nice was the song by Taylor Swift ! First time in my life I’ve even heard a Taylor Swift song !! Not even kidding !

Was wondering were you had got to, you can't  beat travelling,  that, art and architecture are my three passions.

Hope you didn't fall in the canals in Amsterdam after going into the coffee shops lol.  I think you would like Vienna, greatest city in Europe, and cheap to get there, brilliant cheap apartments, and buskers on the street playing things by mozart and beethoven, I am back there again in a few weeks myself, for about the 10th time.

Do your vibrato how you want, as long as you get the sound it doesn't matter.look forward to hearing your party contribution as well.

Hi Stringy,

I have planted the Vienna seed! But I know we are off to the south of France in September !

Good advice on the vibrato thank you however I’ve got some exciting news …. So you know I had a teacher for one lesson and had an agreement where they would contact me if a cancellation came up? Well a cancellation came up but I was away. Then another cancellation came up and I was away. Fair enough. Then last night I was practicing thinking this is awful !! I need a teacher ! So someone I watch all the time on you tube is Mary V. Probably my favourite teacher on you tube !!! Got myself a lesson on zoom on Tuesday !!! Amazing . And you get a follow up video !!! I need help big time so fingers crossed !!! I’ll let you know 😀

That's great news about the teacher, won't be long before the Royal Albert Hall now;)

I think you are doing great anyway. Even though you are turning into a globe trotter.

@Katie L, where are you????

Have you seen this year’s Christmas project? This seems like one that you would really  play well.

Hope you’ll join us.  And please give us an update on your playing!
