Hello everyone! How is Thaxted coming? I am still just playing from sheet..and about to get serious with the tempo... I am struggling with the estring shift on Violin one..."maybe I should try a piece more suited to my abilities."

This is my favorite  piece that Pierre has selected. I think we are going to be all world PRO 1st-place1st-placethumbs-upthumbs-upby the time this gets mixed.

I am very excited.  Excited to read all the posts.  Just wanted to check in and say I am practicing and rearing to go.

Pierre..in case you get a surge of say 98 submissions...Please send out an alert.. I will fight to get that last one.. :)

Happy playing everyone.. we can do this!cheerleader

Me too Toni, shifting is way outside my comfort zone.

But I'm actually trying to do it, practising hard, though it seems not successfully.  I thought, like you, maybe I should aim lower.

Just out of interest Pierre ... how many submissions are there so far?  This is just to give me an idea on how much I should be panicking!

If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

I was wondering the same thing. It would be cool if there were a "thermometer" that showed how close the project was to reaching the goal of 100 submissions.

I hope to do this one, but, to be honest, I haven't practiced it at all yet. It's a busy time of year for me. Plus, I'm not familiar with this piece so I've got a lot of listening to do, before I can attempt it.

It would be great to know if I need to kick into high gear soon (or if it's too late).

My teacher has given me a couple of possible shifting.places if anyone wants a copy of my sheet.

My biggest problem is the click track intro coming in on the 3rd beat is proving troublesome

You guys need to start panicking soon.

Two submissions. I'm wondering if you don't actually need a deadline to get your butts in gear on this one. LOL

Please begin recording soon but don't panic!!!!

LOL,
The repeated part can be played at the same octave as the first time. Also, I would like to get an equal amount of the other parts so if the first part is too hard. :)
Thanks

I'm working on V1, V2, V3 and a cello part.  Just waiting to see what's required ...

I'll have them all recorded in a few days.

If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

LOL @coolpinkone - be-still your beating heart !   Steady-on there !  Sure, we can do it... !

( and apologies @Fiddlerman for no submission yet - I have now got 7 more pieces "on the go at the same time" and the darned violin is taking over my life - nice - and that wasn't a complaint - so I need to stop getting distracted and focus!  )

Get a grip there Bill - on the specific subject of Thaxted - has anyone else like me de-tuned - hmmmm...  "de-tuned" always sounds to me like "flattening" .... I mean "re-tuned" their viddles to G#, D#, Bb/A# and F - or is it just ME taking the easy way out.... LOL - sorry folks - my fingering struggles on Bb..  not quite used to the position yet and I find the half-stop position close to the nut too difficult... I well understand that there are other ways of getting it - and I know, I should just practice - but the re-tuning is an easy way out for me and lets me play in tune with relative ease.... ( OK, I heard you guys shouting "you rotten  cheat" )...  I'll get there one way or another !   I guess, it will also give some "unexpected open-string voicing" on the odd note... whatever...

At least no strings went "pop" as I carefully tightened them 50c upwards lol.... (wonders how far you can go before something gives up....)

The clock is a-ticking !  roflol - well - this is my first joint project, and, I know I am struggling as an early player - but I see ways around it - come on you folks that are WAY better than me - add to the cause and have a shot at it !

I've reviewed the other FM projects - they are well cool ... we can all contribute... let's do our best....

Yeah!  Yeah! Yeah! Bring-it-on, bring-it-on, bring-it-on...  thumbs-upthumbs-upthumbs-up

(I promise - I'll do my best as well - and I kind-of-like the freedom/option to drop the second part by an octave - and maybe "match-in" notes to "one-side-or-the-other-of-the-note-as-scripted - whatever is easier so long as it harmonises" - I encounter  difficulty on the high notes as well - not up to the positioning and finger-stretching yet - but - let's "work around it and just make it sound good" - find something that "works" an octave lower, or maybe drop into a few notes on the 2/3/4/v part - it'll be fine -so - hopefully that thought should assist many early, but eager, players like myself

Listen to me talking - like I know something about it - ( NO not a lot ! ) jeez - I'm just passionate about this whole new experience - I'm only a few months in - go on folks, give it a go - try it... there's no shame whatsoever in trying your best ...)

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

No appologies necessary from anyone. smiley-face-punching

Seriously, no reason for panic. I've only received 2 parts but I feel it's time to record your submissions soon. Trouble is if I don't give a deadline, almost everyone just waits. I guess it's not fair either if some of you rush to leave a submission and I keep it open for another half year.

New update for the number of submissions:

@Fiddlerman okay.. if I understand you correctly, I can play the last part in the same octave as the first... okay.. I can do that.. and I think.... at least to get in a submission.  I will then bust out one of the other parts as requested.   I will get this out in 2 weeks... that is my goal.. I can record and send on June 20th.

Happy Thaxting all.

@Fiddlerman thanks.  I practiced with it last night this way.  Sounds great.  I still will get a tutor lesson with your track to get my timing but otherwise it is coming along so nice.  I think it is the prettiest song I have ever played.  I am so happy with it.  If I can't get it right by June 20, then I will send a different part.

Thanks for the project.

Just popping in after a long haitus.  So great to see everyone still on here and excited about a new project!  6 months of violin exactly today, but I've barely played for 3 months.  Between the work travel and the thin walls I lost focus, but I'm back muted and eager to pick up where I left off.

I hope it's not too late but my goal is to participate before I take off on yet another business trip on June 20th.

Missed you all and missed our lovely shared passion :)

@Pierre I'm ready to start recording the 1st violin, but don't know which one to add. Will you recommend me any other (which will probably be the least played...)
