I hesitate to start another Scottish Thread, but thought some great Scottish music was getting lost in Irish threads, so moving them here.
The Highland Sessions was a great series 6-part BBC series that showcased Scottish AND Irish musicians & music. It was filmed in Killcrankie - a village on the River Garry, in Perth and Kinross.
Here's the 1st episode - I LOVE "O'Donnell's Return"! ...makes me want to go find where I posted that video of a fiddler that sounded just like bagpipes!
Episode 1
1) Mary Ann Kennedy, Rona Lightfoot & Mick O’brien: O'donnell's Return / O’neill’s Cavalcade / Strathspey / Reel
2) Mary Black: Siúil A Rún [I Wish In Vain]
3) James Graham: A Mhairead Òg [Young Margaret]
4) Dermot Byrne: Bunker Hill
5) Karen Casey: Buile Mo Chroí [Beat Of My Heart]
6) Iarla Ó Lionáird: T’aimse Im' Chodhladh [I Am Asleep]
7) Mary Ann Kennedy: Puirt A Beul [Mouth Music] Incorporating: Mhorag An Dean Thu Tighinn / St Kilda Wedding / Hir An Fheill / Buachaille Dubh Fionnghal
I have learned (and love to play) "O'Donnell's Return" and I'm looking forward to learning more!

Maybe more of my foolishness, but the Scotland BBC and well known Scottish Fiddler, Aly Bain, played a huge roll in the "The Transatlantic Sessions" video series, so moved this here, too.
Lastly, "The Transatlantic Sessions" Series - Folk, Country, Bluegrass played by great musicians from the UK & North America!
Here's the 1st Session - directed by Aly Bain & Jay Ungar, filmed in the Montgreenan Mansion Hotel in Ayrshire, Scotland - 1995.

There were 6 large programs (some are split up in this playlist), produced sporadically starting in 1995 thru 2013. Here's a good playlist from Daniel and Marie Walter.

Well, since sessions are all about the tunes, here's a great list of Scottish 'session' tunes to look over at 'The Session'!
I might have posted this this next link somewhere, but worth another look - many collections, some can be bought, but there are also 22 AMAZING collections you can download for FREE (donate, if you can)! Highland Music Trust
Scotland's Music - Fiddle Books - has an amazing selection of Scottish fiddle books I don't remember seeing anywhere; Ceilidh, Highland, Session, Old Collections, Individual's Tunebooks, Tutors, Group music and Cape Breton!
What I like about this site, you can click on books for more good info & see a complete list of tune titles in the table of contents!
More links to Scottish Fiddle tunes in Post 14 of A Peek at Scottish Fiddling History Thread... and at the other Scottish Music threads.
