@stringy I think in your double stop version the way youre bowing or something makes your notes sound really articulate and clear.  great job!  keep it up! and some nice vibrato there too, one of your best!

take care of yourself and misses..get some rest.

You didn't sound too bad, Stringy. All the best, anyway. I've given up washing my armpits so that I can test my sense of smell whenever I need to.

Greg thanks for the comment on the articulation, I have been putting in a lot of effort on double stops lately, I am trying to learn all the chords on fiddle off by heart, I must be mad.

ok, somebody asked for this!  Cringeworthy, but here it is -- I could just NOT get down one measure, but got so sick of practicing it I figured I would just go with where I was at.  Maybe down the road I will finally get that one measure some improvement and I will record again.  Funny, my transitions from one string to another are far from perfect, but for some reason this one, from A string (first finger - 'B') to D string (first finger - 'E') just seems impossible.  I think I am supposed to be able to keep my finger on both strings and then just bow each string, but I could not do that at all and get a reasonable sound.  Oh well, for now, it is what it is...

LinDee

ps. First time I put a video on youtube - took almost 30 minutes to download a one minute video !  Hope that is not always the case.  Have put a video or 2 on my FB page and they did not take that long...

I thought that was really really good !! It looked to me like you really got into the swing of it. I’d be really happy with that after two months. I’m excited for you . Well done !!

AND recording yourself playing on video!

THANK YOU, for making this a wonderful PARTY!

@LinDee

GOAL!!!

Seriously, you've only playing for 2 months and you're already able to play a piece with good intonation and rhythm.  That is an amazing accomplishment.

Uploading to youboob can take longer depending on the time of day, day of the week, connection speed, etc.  I also know that uploading on my PC takes longer (by a LOT) than when I'm uploading videos with my phone.

I like the way your violin looks too.  Very good looking and it shows the care it's received over its lifetime.

Now, isn't there a Mouse around here who knows how to play a cello?

@LinDee Yay!  1st Video! 1st-place You sound great!  I remember trying to get that note on the pesky D string when I first started--you'll get it, for sure!

@LinDee - Excellent, a whole lot better than my first rendition of that. Once you got started, intonation and rhythm were great. Give yourself a hearty pat on the back!

@Mark; JohnG; SharonC; RDP; ABitRusty; stringy; ELBCK; Katie M -- Thank you ALL for your kind words and encouragement!  I know you all look at my efforts through your own journeys to learn these wonderful instruments.  Truly made me feel good about my sharing my music (such as it is ;-)   ).

@JohnG - if I am remembering correctly, I saw your first effort of 'Ode to Joy' and you had only been playing for like a week!  AND it was pretty well done.

@RDP - thanks for the compliment on my violin - I cherish it!  Some time I am going to tell you all about it, but it is kind of a long story.  Suffice to say it did have to have some repairs done to it.  It is hopefully well cared for now and will be from now on.

@Emily - your posts always are so much fun - thanks for the extra effort you put into them!

@LinDee - Thanks for the kind words about my first attempt at Ode to Joy, but I really cringe at hearing it now! lol

Would love to hear your violin story!
