MGN, Very nice work! I love the music and I'm following your tail -- i already found a sheet music, and plan on working on it soon (when and where should I squeeze in the christmas project when I love to play other songs?).

Robyn I was waiting for your comment... I was thinking of you! We sorta look the same on our facial expressions ;-)

Wait till you see my expression! I shouldn't have listened to my husband and should have posted the headless one even though he thought that one didn't sound as good as the one I posted. Boy, was i nervous when I knew my post was for real! Thanks you all (Robyn, barry, David, Sunflower, and MGN ((did I miss anyone?)) for taking the lead to post and "set example" for Fiddlerman's "studio class."

Now that there are a few of us posting videos, I'm wondering if we should find a collective YouTube page for us, to make it easier.  That'd be easier than scouring the forums for different people's input ... my opinion only of course.

Thanks's for writing that out Fiddlerman. The sheetmusic you guys are finding is a different key than what I found will give this version a go. I should probably listen to the song a few too. Never did listen to it. I havn't heard that song in years.

I can change it to any key you like in a matter of seconds with Finale :-)

I'd like to try it in a different key anyways. I'm going to have a look at that program Finale...And take a listen to the actual song this time before I play it again. You should add what you did to the beginners sheet music section though. Don't forget about Hotel California either when you get back to Florida ;-)

I'll try not to forget. But hopefully you will remind me.rofl

Thanks for reminding me to put the new Scarborough Fair on the Beginners page.

Finally had a chance to watch the video. Wow! You've only been playing 3 months? Your bow is already straight and you're using your 4th finger. I am impressed smile I can tell you that my sound at 3 months was nothing like as consistent and my fingers still aren't always as close to the strings as yours are. Rock on!

I posted a quartet playing on the Magic Fiddle app for iphone when it first came out. I have a microsite called Fiddlestyles.com which I neglect a lot.

See that article here

Here's the "Magic Fiddle" for iPad youtube video

I kinda like the Magic Fiddle. I am not saying it is a replacement for the real thing. More like a fun toy that can be used in a serious way. Have you read some of the comments on the YouTube page? Some think it is the end of the civilized world!

Well I haven't pick up the fiddle in a few days so thought I better put up another song. My wife and I were ridiculously ill with the flu or food poisoning the last few days (glad we have two bathrooms or we would have been running into each other;-(

Critique all you want please…

That is probably right on schedule progress wise.  No need to rush any of your actions being note finding or bow.

When you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Great job.

Can't believe you are playing after just having had the flu.
First of all your moving forward real fast for how long you've been playing and it's great to see. Even beginning to use vibrato :-) I love it.

Fix the F# by sliding it right up to the G natural. Funny thing is that your C# is pretty good and it is right across from the F#.

Also like the Hmm at the end of it all :-)

Just keep working the way you have been cause it looks as though you are doing things right. It should take some time before you are more relaxed. Practice the vibrato slow and wide for a while to get the smooth steady movement in and you're shooting for a finger joint pivot with the finger tip rolling backwards and forward again.

Concentrate on staying relaxed. It will pay off later.

Ok, I need to relax for sure. As soon as I hit the video record button I seem to fall apart a little. I do need to start practicing vibrato a lot right away because I have a natural vibrato from playing the guitar for so many years...And it's different on violin. I really need to work on intonation too!

I posted it here because MGN has a mac, and his first video was Scarborough Fair.
