I liked it alot! I am not familiar with the song, but you keep a very nice rhythm going. I really liked the last note. I don't know what you call the fingering for that...a slide? Pretty neat. I have the look you have, glaring at my fingers, willing them to behave and go where I want them to when I want them too.

I am glad you are feeling better.

Thank's Dave. That last note would be a slide but I actually hit the wrong note by accident and slid up to correct myself ;-)

Not being familiar with the music, I think it sounds pretty cool. It could be your rendition of Spanish Violin. I can say I knew you when....

Thanks's for writing that out Fiddlerman. The sheetmusic you guys are finding is a different key than what I found will give this version a go. I should probably listen to the song a few too. Never did listen to it. I havn't heard that song in years.

I can change it to any key you like in a matter of seconds with Finale :-)

And when I hit the record button for some reason House of the Rising Sun was in my head. I'm going to learn that song. (talking about my first post trying Scarborough Fair)

I'm not familiar with the tune, but I think you did great! Like the hmm at the end and there's no tongue sticking out this time!

Hey pky ;-) I think I will have some strange looking facial expressions for a while learning the violin. I sort of count out with my mouth and tap my right heal when I learn new stuff. I'm like you, I'm always smiling and laughing with people but as soon as we bow the violin, we look funny and serious. I'm going to be posting a new video of me probably tomorrow and can't wait to see what you have next.

You are improving with your facial expressions:) If you watched my face closely, you could see my pursed lips moving because I was counting the beats.

I'm giving up over the rainbow, amazing grace, and campbell's farewell to red gap, because I thought I'm so used to hearing what I play that i can't hear my own mistake anymore; maybe after I stopped playing those songs for a while, then get back on them, i will hear them better. I just started practicing the swanlake finale and violin 4 and 3 on the Christmas project. i'm also practcing my scales -- A major, D major, and G major. From my first post, i realized that I really should focus on practcing scales and that will help greatly with my intonation. I can't walk well yet, so I shouldn't run.

I did a search but couldn't find a free sheet music copy of Starry Starry Night.

Oh well.

Here is a young woman playing it on a Yamaha electric violin. It is a bit more of an upbeat version, but the effects she has dialed in makes it sound really nice

Cool,

Playing back to karaoke. I'm not sure that I like that sound but I have trouble finding a good sound for my electric fiddle too. Kind of has the sewing machine sound that I am allergic to. Reverb and some chorus is always a safe improvement as long as you don't over do it. Oliver posted a site where people post settings for the Zoom G1 effect box and I think it's a great idea. It would be a great idea for us to start a forum on effects that work with the fiddle. Those effects work better with guitars.

Yes please. And equipment. thumbs-up

I don't have any effect pedals yet.. figured I should learn to play before fooling around with effects.

With my e-fiddle I use some reverb, just a touch of chorus and a hint of delay and it seems to take away the sewing machine sound. I didn't like her sound either but nice playing and she really gets into it.

I did post that site with ZOOM G1N settings but at the time I did not realize that the device comes with a big selection of pre-sets.   Maybe 30 maybe more.  I'm sort of working my way through the list.  So far I've picked out 3 that I liked.  Of course, most of the pre-sets are for hard rock and such.  Probably good if someone is doing that kind of music.

What do you use with your E-fiddle MGN? You know your equipment.

My progress ;-) I sure didn't want to post this but just had to so you all could see my cat Dillinger. He love violin playing. I do clean up well and wanted to put up a couple cool videos of what I'm working on but have to show my cat when I was practicing before a shower and shave. Dillinger was poking me in the back and you will see that in the video when I move forward a bit. I also messed up the end of the violin phrase big time cause I was wondering if my cat would jump up on me instead of focusing on playing. My Vikings are playing any second now so I will put a  better video of this song plus Let It Be tomorrow...
