Ahem, I think that I speak for the violin challenged when I say, HELP!!!! Those sixteenth notes are killing me. It's not that I can't read or count music, I can but, seeing the technique of playing sixteenth notes and also the thirtysecond notes you slipped in would be helpful.
You don't have to play anything you can't play. You can just sit those measures out.
Also, try the second third and fourth violin parts, they are much easier.
A good way to learn the fast notes is just to play them like they were slow. Make the sixteenths into quarters or whole notes and play them that way until you can pick the speed up. This is really the typical way you learn to play any difficult piece.
Eventually, your skills pick up and you don't have to start so slow to learn fast passages.

I know and thank you for your support. I'm just over eager to jump in there after a 45 year spell of not playing. I was going to be in the Canon project until an accident at work left me with tinnitus, hearing loss, and nerve damage in my hands but, I have almost recovered from it and ready to play again.

I spent a little more time with page two on Violin 1 part for House. I am seeing some hope! (far from up to speed, or memorizing yet).
How is everyone else doing? Eager to hear all the "House" Stuff.
I cheated on one of my Days and played it with the Electric.. awh.. sweet stuff.

Hi, Coolpinkone! Les and I are coming along in the "House" project. It is so good for me to work on this. Among the usual challenges, I am using it as a position exercise instead of staying in first position the whole time. Les had some issues counting the rhythms (tied triplets, specifically), but he's working it out.
One of these days I will get an electric violin, too. I have so much work and learning to do on my acoustic, though, so I will hold off on the expense for now!

Leanna:
Very cool that you are working the project as a positions lesson as well.
I am working it as a "hope I can nail those 16ths" I am starting to recognize the sound and the pattern and it is starting to sound like the tools I have.
I love my EV... and "House" sounds good on it. But I mostly still play my accoustic 80% of the time. The EV is new and yes, I do cheat sometimes because it is so dog gone fun!
Keep up the good work. I am wondering if we got a project ticker for this... or if it would make us nervous.
Cheers.

Hi again, Coolpinkone. I don't really know how this forum works. Do we get badges and such? I see some graphics next to your name but don't know why!
I kind of have trouble with the 16ths in the first violin part, too. I can play them, but my problem was getting into them in the right rhythm. There are 3 bars of rests and the play along track is banging away in triplets. Then we have to come back in on measure 34 playing 16ths. So, I need to get my brain to stop thinking in three per beat and switch to 4 per beat. I think I've got it better now, but it took concentration.
The EV seems so fun! But my teacher keeps telling me to learn intonation by listening to the resonances and sympathetic vibrations of my acoustic. I guess I wouldn't get that on a solid body electric. That's one more reason I tell myself to hold off on getting an electric for now. One day I'll be able to justify the cost to myself!

Hi guys ... another long absence due to ... oh you don't want to know.
And what do I find? Another group project! WOW! And a tune that I love to play on the cello (though my version is a lot simpler).
I'm wondering if I'll get time to join this project, but I would dearly love to.
I will try to tackle some of it tomorrow, but because I'm going away again next week, it might not be my time to join in.
Fingers crossed!
If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.
