...GCV Kreisler!!!!

Hi everybody.  It has been a long time since I have posted on here, unfortunately.  I do check in from time to time to read a thread here and there though.  Anyhow, like I said, I just ordered a Kreisler replica.  Well, actually I ordered it at about 4:30 this morning, and I am beyond excited.

I had an August Kohr K550 that I bought on Fiddlershop about two years ago, but the time and money was right for me to upgrade now, so I shipped it back to the shop for a good trade-in amount.  I know nothing but good things have ever been said about Pierre and Michael, but after the fantastic customer service given to me, I couldn't not but come on here and heap more praise onto their pile.

I have been pestering Michael for at least a month with one amateur question after another, and he was always prompt in replying.  I finally called the shop yesterday and was able to talk to Mike over the phone and if possible, he was even nicer than before.

When the instrument gets to me, I plan on taking some photographs and posting them here, and I will probably do a video review as well.  There isn't that much info about GCV instruments floating around out there on the internet except for what Pierre has posted, his reviews, etc.  So maybe I can answer any questions someone might have.

Anyways, stay tuned...

Never mind maneuvers, just go straight at them.

Always great to make friends with a new violin!   Keep us posted !

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

That's pretty cool! it's a real pretty instrument, and from Pierre's video it has a real pretty sound, too. Happy for you! :)

You're going to love it. From the video I can tell it's going to sound great and it will sound even better after having been played for a while.

Congratulations!!!!  I know what you mean by the anticipation :)  Have you thought about which song you will play on the violin?  It should be something memorable and appropriate for the very first song on your new violin.  If you can, record it!!

Thanks everybody!  I have little doubt that this instrument will sound much better than my skill level will allow me to play it, but that's what you should have in an instrument, right?  Something to grow into.

Well, I'm no virtuoso, haha, so I will start with something simple that I know very well and go from there.  I have a few ideas in mind, and I will absolutely post a video as soon as I can, so stay tuned!

Congratulations.  That truly is a beautiful instrument. So step one complete.  Step two -- learn to play like Fritz Kreisler.
