hey guys, I'm really sorry the video might have to wait because I don't have time and can't play well yet so it'll be embarrassing embarassed hehe, as for my progress, I managed to play a few songs already like ave maria, over the rainbow and scarborough fair but I still can't play any of them smoothly. I know it takes time and practice of course. Well, that's my progress so far. See you guys soon smile

LOL okok I'll post as soon as I have time ^^. Just a few questions, I have problem reading notes so I always write the letters down. Did any of you do that or is it just me?haha and when should I start learning second position? and I've always wondered how do people know when to go into second position? does the notes have it there or you just have to figure it out yourself? I'm just curious :D. Oh and my hand gets tired holding the violin after awhile and without noticing it, I would play it with my arm leaning on my body. Is it weird or it takes awhile to get used to it? Ok then, see you guys soon~ ;P

Sorry, I have one more question, what does the line below a note mean? it can be above too. It's a small line below a crotchet or any other music notes. Sometimes it's above depending on the note. When the crotchet is like a 'p' it is above whereas when the crotchet is like a 'd' it is below. lol i hope you guys would understand what I'm trying to say haha

If it is a Tenuto you are talking about it's an expression marking. Hold the note with the tenuto marking its full length or longer sometimes even with a slight rubato. Sometimes you are to play the note slightly louder, expressively.
For now just hold those notes their full value. I made a sample of tenuto marking to see if this is what you are referring to.

Hey guys!! It's been awhile, sorry...but I've been busy lately especially with my mid-term coming up. As for my progress, I can play few songs pretty smoothly now compared to last time and I really do want to post a video but there's no one to hold it for me LOL so I'll probably jz post a recording(?) after my exams though ^^ That's all for now and just a quick question, how long did all of you take to do a vibrato? I'm having trouble just trying to do it with my pinky finger because my nail gets in the way when i make it curbed even though my nails are cut already. Please tell me this is normal. Okay then, see you guys after my mid-term ^^

Hi Huey,,, vibrato seem's to be a problem for 99% of violinist's, it's normal. Just keep practicing and one day it will come to you.

Try lifting your other three finger's off the string's and vibrate with the pinky alone.

Good luck and wishing you the best on your exam's.  crossedfingers

Or use the 3rd and 4th finger together as one for vibrato. Fourth finger vibrato is a struggle for most. You are just starting out Huey. Takes time to build a house. Just make sure you build a nice foundation first.
