The Banshee reel is on list for this weekend.  Thought it interesting comparison from 2021 to now.  Just recorded new fiddle parts.   nothing great but different.

itll be faster than that and actually is a bit easier surprisingly just a tad faster.  .i just wanted to hear how different it would sound this year against the backing compared to before.  threw in another fiddle track but didnt really add..if anything is muddy. certainly not as nasally like last time too me though ..think i made that 1st one when all the talk about freemont bypass groove was going on.

weekend...not really.  theres some polkas ill probably air bow that i havent spent much if any time on.  ill muddle through best i can.  if polkas arent too fast i can sight read them.

Love them both. I get more of a feeling of a bunch of fiddle music musicians getting together with the first one. The second sounds more like a studio production, if you get what I mean.

They both are great. It is neat to hear the same song, played by the same person back to back, after a period of time. Enjoyed that.

So, are you playing all the background music? Do not get technical, I have no clue what you all talk about with the recording info. Just a simple answer will suffice, 😂😂😂😂😂. That should make it easy for you, so you can get back to playing.

@ABitRusty  Great comparision recordings.  I like the tone of the violin in the 2nd one better--seems smoother/blends better smile

thanks @SharonC !   its for certain easier for me to auto pilot that one now depending on how fast it gets.

good weekend.. had an enjoyable time at concert.   It was a treat getting to play with everyone and watching kids just starting out be part of it.. think that is main purpose.   plus it gives focus to what is being practiced.  a goal of sorts.   funny enough polkas went just fine.  it was the set with porthole that if i had to pick something didnt flow as smooth as hoped. BUT.. if i hadnt spent as much time on it as i did I wouldnt have even been able to attempt.  still a great time.  spent a long afternoon playing music..sunny but in the shade about 70 degrees.. what else could you ask!

The reverb gives that tune an eerie/haunting quality,

that has old scratch really sounding good.

@Mark. .. yeah think this one played that slow gets a bit of a boost from reverb.  really like the tune especially that high G...err C (viola) that hangs.  Kinda has a foggy landscape sound to it to me.  I need some foggy landscape photos.

Think if i play again on fiddle and pair with something, ill have to cut back alot on reverb though.

thanks for giving it a listen!

@ABitRusty -

Great stuff!

I especially LOVED you pushed it right over the edge into Air/Lament territory!

Plan on learning the John Naughton Reel, too?

...you REALLY need to give ol' scratch a more dignified name - he's sounding awful sweet!

Enjoyed listening!

This tune has been stuck in my head ever since I watched Tune Hash play it at a house concert on youtube..ill link below mine.   Even went as far as reaching out to George Jackson one of the fiddlers to see if he made a video on it and he sent a link to his patreon..which i joined.  lots of good content.  He breaks down tunes really well and it helped me get at least this far with it in last couple days.

worked over A part last night and got B part down somewhat tonight.  This is where Im at with whole tune.  ignore my shakey bow tonight. well always.  not very fiddly yet since ill need to work in the drone strings.  so its rough draft at this point even for such a simple tune.  only 2 strings but that feel and speed plus fitting in tasteful drones not so easy for me yet.  wow maybe you shouldnt even watch 😅

Video of group called Tune Hash playing it.

That group has a great sound, your melody is there and sounding good, once you get some drones going its will sound great.

Hey, what are you saying?

That really sounded GREAT!

I was a tappin' & swayin'!

...Bugsy didn't complain. (lol)

Maybe take a moment to try an exercise on shortening your bowing, just for the string crossings, as much as possible (rock, sound, rock, sound - only takes an inch) & maybe try it at different areas of your bow (closer to tip & nearer the frog).  My bow is lighter at the tip, so I have better control closer to the frog - doesn't hurt to get reminded where your sweet spots are.

You'll have it completely smoothed out in no time! 🤗

Is it an ear worm now?

Bee Barn or Lake?

Subtle differences.  theres one that I think is more different than other 2.

Which do YOU like best?

How did it feel playing each one?

I listened twice - liked the 3rd version the most, both times! 🤗

You're doing really great with this tricky bowing!

Woo Hoo!
