This may be obvious, but how in the world do you ad the "@LyleA" or "@somebody" links to a post?  I can't for the life of me figure it out.

Edit**** ---  I think I just answered my own question.

Here's what we have for Solos so far in addition to the two group performances:

@LyleA - The First Noel

@coolpinkone - O Holy Night

@wookieman - Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow.

@NewFiddlerGirl - O Come O Come Emmanuel

Let me know if anyone else is going to do anything.  Hopefully, I saw everyone's posts.  I feel like I'm missing one.

For @KindaScratchy and anyone else.

OK, I call dibs on O Come All Ye Faithful! (Now I'd better get cracking practicing it.)

A little practice on "Frosty."  Still some work to do, but it's coming along!  Yes, this is muted and the light is horrible.  Sorry!  Temporary living arrangements.

Very nice. Thanks for the posts even though they are rough drafts. It helps give me an idea of what to expect as I wait for my book.

I visited every music store in Vegas for the book - no dice. So I ordered it and it should be here before the 11th. Can't wait. At least I can practice my solo and look for my firewire cable for my camcorder. ARGHHHHcow-fingerscrossed (please be in the closet or in the computer room or somewhere....)

Nice practice @wookieman ... it also made me smile...who can't smile at Frosty. I have to say.. I did have to  say oh...that sound more complicated that I thought when I said.. Oh our song selection is easy..and the same with WWYAMC.. so I am hoping my book arrives today.  I would have thought it here sooner.

Way to go with posting the videos. It helps.

Thanks.

@coolpinkone Yeah, the songs actually look a little more difficult than they really are.  The only difficulty with them at all is the speed at which they are played.  But they're really pretty simple.  The book also has them written out in a logical breakdown.  The measures are noted at the start of each "section" if you will, so it's easy to identify and practice one "section" at a time.  On WWAMC for example, I practiced measures 1-4, then 5-12, then 13- 21, then 22-29, then 30 to the end.

Basically, its broken down much more simply than it appears.  For me, focusing on one "section" at a time made the whole thing MUCH easier than just trying to play straight through every time, and I was able to knock it out each song in one practice session.  Then it was a just a matter of spending a couple of sessions putting it all together.

I have to say... With it muted like that it sounds very similar to the version in the movie... Nice job xD

Stop saying you can't do it and actually go try it... Trust me it works.

I got my book yesterday. Quick question - Is anyone playing Violin 2 parts or is everyone doing Violin 1?

Both parts look about the same level of difficultly. I started WWYAMC and may try Violin 2 for Frosty. What about click tracks for the 2nd violin parts - are they available or are they pretty much the same?

I don't know if we got any viola players so this (some second fiddle players) might round out the performance.

@NewFiddlerGirl  As far as I know, no one has come up and specifically said that they want to play one part or the other.  There is a separate click track for the 2nd violin parts.  They are also located at the same place.  It WILL round out the sound some if we get some violin 2 going on!  So if you want to tackle it, by all means go for it!  I think the 2nd violin parts look a LITTLE easier also, just because (at first glance) they look to have less note changes.

That being said, I PERSONNALY have trouble going from part 1 to part 2.  My brain gets mad at me, but I'm going to try to do both parts.  A little extra challenge for me and my brain.

I'm glad to hear that you got your book though!  Enjoy!

I was looking through this and almost volunteered to do both 1st and 2nd Violin... then I saw that it was $6 for the book... Yea.. I'm not a fan of paying for music. If I can find a way to grab it for free somewhere, then I might join in, but otherwise Best of Luck to all of you!

@LyleA @wookieman  I'm going to work on Violin 2 on both songs. They look a bit easier and I have my hands full with OCOCE - the click track and accompaniment for that are at 120 bpm a bit faster than I had planned. Yikes...

Maybe next year, I'll have a viola....

Well I have to say Frosty is fun and sweet.  So I hope everyone gives it a shot...seems hard at first..but gets better... I am muddling through it happily. I think I have spent over an hour on it so far... and I can see in a week I will be better off.

@wookieman  GREAT click tracks.. thank you.. I would be a bit lost without it... for timing and tempo from sheet for me is not so great...but this is perfect.

Fun times everyone... think snow, holidays, the most famous snowman of all... remember he is made of Christmas Snow. :)

Spent 40 minutes with Frosty tonight.  He is a Happy Jolly Soul.

Fun song... I will put a goofy practice sound cloud up tomorrow or Friday.

I don't know if I will get WWYAMC in time.

Holy Night... I have it down..but I need help with the  sound.../maybe tempo..might be a duet with my gal pal violin partner who can vibrate well for me at the end?  Time will tell.

 How is everyone doing?

I need a little help/advice. The tempo for both Frosty and Wish are fine and I'm starting to play with the click track but....

The accompaniment for O Come O Come Emmanuel is crazy fast for someone only playing for a bit over a month (120 bpm). I have the song down and do fine when I play without the click track/accompaniment. But I can't seem to keep up with the tempo. Either I lose the notes or my bowing goes to hades in a handbasket. I don't want to give up because the accompaniment is beautiful. I have been trying to just "finger along" with the track then pick up the bow. But I can't seem to get my two hands to work and play well together at the faster pace.

Any tips would be appreciated. violin-bang
