I am thinking about just kicking back in my chair and playing some Christmas songs by ear. It's not always perfect, but my wife likes it.

Folks, I need to apologize majorly for expressing enthusiasm about this project and then disappearing.

Turns out that default internet access in my new location is extremely unreliable and it'll be at least another couple of weeks before I stand any chance at all of addressing that problem meaningfully. Audio or video file transfers are unfortunately out of the question during this period. Intermittent participation in the forum will be the best I can manage, and then only when I get lucky.

I'll try to do that much, though.

I submitted my video now.

I have to say this was alot harder for me than I was expecting.   I'm a very new player, and I don't get alot of time to practice.  I think I did OK, but I was only able to learn 1 piece.  Hopefully next year I'll be better and I'll be able to record more than one piece.

It has been a wonderful learning experience for me though.  I got better with my timing and playing a piece that was above my playing level has helped me improve.

Paul, I got your video and watched it tonight.  You did great man!  I appreciate the support on this project!  Also, Love the sweater for the video!  AND I appreciate that you posted here about the growth you've experienced through the project!  I think these are SUPER beneficial for my own progression!  Keep going man!  Thanks again, you did great!

I'm with you Paul, this has been a huge learning experience for me too.

I'm about to sprend my files, I hope my efforts will help the project come to full fruition and we all sound awesome!

I've run out of space on my camera's memory card, that's how many takes I have, and I just chose the least unacceptable (and clipped out the swearing!), so I have my fingers crossed.

Edit ... 2 hours later I'm still trying to sprend the first file ... I must have the slowest computer in Queensland, I'll be here all day!

@Robyn.fnq, I got your video.  Well done, and I appreciate the work on the project.  I'm glad we're all learning from these "easy" songs I picked out.  (If these are correlated to book one, I must have done something wrong!)  Well done again!

Jesse, you should get 4 from me.  I've tried out V1 and V2 on both the songs.

I'm recording for the Silent Project tonight  and will be finishing up this project before the 20th. Nearly had a disaster with a very old yappy dog and a camcorder that was on a tripod plugged into the wall.......

Hello all!  It's getting to be about that time.  Don't be afraid to keep submitting videos.  I've got a few, but not as many as the number of people who I know have started working on the project.  Don't be afraid to submit what you have!  The more the merrier!  You can submit until I publish, so get it in if you can!  Thanks!

We had a family emergency that took up most of yesterday. My apologies but it was totally unexpected. I will try to record O Come O Come Emmanual and get it out to you shortly. Because of the delay, I may not be able to get in the second violin parts of Frosty and We Wish but at least it's only second fiddle. I am so sorry but life happens. Thanks

Oh if we can still send them, I'll try to get mine in today.

Hi everyone - despite all that has happened I managed to sprend a file of Oh Come Oh Come Emmanual. It is not my best playing as I am still a bit upset over personal happenings. I would rather submit something to the project than skip out. And it helps put me in the Christmas mood and forget about stuff for a while.

So warts and all on the video - Merry Christmas! I hope that next year I can have a bit more time to get this stuff prepared and no last minute surprises. Thanks for the opportunity and all the encouragement. I learned a lot in the process and that's what Fiddlerman is all about.

I'm sorry to hear that @NewFiddleGirl, I hope all has worked itself out!  No worries on the lateness!  I haven't recorded yet either (should be done tonight).  I just wanted to get a feel for how many are still coming in!  Also, I sent you a PM, but I did not get your sprend file from earlier.  frown  Probably a sprend issue.  it happens!

Well, I would like to thank those that were involved.  I hope that everyone out there has a wonderful and very merry Christmas!  I hope that next year can be as fruitful as this for all of us where our violin playing is concerned to the very least!  Enjoy!  I'm sure my video making skills will also get better by next year.  Everyone want to use the same book next year?  I think there's eight more songs in there...

Thanks Jesse. It turned out great. The entire project was a great learning experience and maybe as a newbie of only two months learning 4 songs was a bit ambitious, but if we don't try we don't learn. I'm so glad I sent in my video.

I love the idea of using the same song book. Perhaps we could pick a song or two now and have a lot of time to work towards it  - with a formal announcement of the project next November.

Additionally I got a viola for an early Christmas present and can get the viola version of the book too.

This really uplifted my spirits and I needed that right now. Everyone here at Fiddlerman is the best.

Ho ho ho and Merry Christmas
