Strings On Sunday ALERT.  Today, Mandy at 2 eastern and BillyG at 2:30.   Always a great way to spend an afternoon.

Think I'm going to watch this week and see what it looks like, then maybe join the fun in future weeks. Trying to figure out StreetJelly now.

Thanks, @JamesRSmithJr :D I haven't seen @BillyG pop up yet, maybe something came up?

@AndrewH Performing on StreetJelly is always nice laid back place to play :D

Good show! Love how you put yourself out there, even with stuff you haven't quite learned. I'm always incredibly nervous about being on camera, which I find kinda weird because I don't get nearly as nervous even playing solo on stage. Seems like a supportive crowd, which might help. :)

@AndrewH Thanks :D Trust me, I'm pretty nervous when I play on there, but I'm getting used to it. I've never seen anyone rude come into any of the fiddling shows, though one night there was a troll on there when I was watching some of the other players, but the owners blocked him very quickly.

My fingers finally warmed up now that I have them on a heating pad, haha. But my fingers were so cold when I was playing on there, that my fingertips hurt to touch the strings, haha.

@BillyG No worries my friend, you have made many contributions to the group, some little tech difficulties won't change that.

@damfino Did a great job as usual...

I have a meeting with a Teacher tonight, he is supposed to be really good, I just hope he accepts my poor soul into his fold :)  Someday I will be good enough to join you all...

I mentioned Strings on Sunday over on the Adult Violin Learners FB page, hope we get some more performers and audiences.....

Just noticed Mandy has scheduled Sunday the 26th @2pm (eastern).   Now I am torn, the teacher I wanted has accepted me, his ONLY open slot that I can make is...  You guessed it, Sundays @   2pm ..  I will be there in spirit Mandy, knock their socks off lady..

No worries, @JamesRSmithJr :D Enjoy your lesson! I might do an extra show somewhere because I'm off now until next Tuesday.

I've been meaning to set up a StreetJelly account to get more used to playing on camera... I'm thinking about playing Sunday if I can throw together some accompaniment tracks by then. (Being much more of a classical player, I just don't have a lot of music that feels complete without accompaniment.)

That would be great @AndrewH !

Although there is a test-mode on Streetjelly, there can on occasion be unexpected issues when broadcasting live for the first time.   It may be worthwhile running a quick "live show" even if it's just for a few minutes to check everything out.  There's usually someone around like myself or Mandy just to check it out live with you.

Just ask if you want to do that and one of us will be your "audience" :) and give you the confidence that everything really is OK.  [ I recall doing a live show for one of the earlier FiddleFest events - I had 3 viewers and thought everything was OK - I eventually discovered that 8 other folks couldn't see or hear me....    :) ]

Thanks for the heads-up! Will see if I can find time for a test run (which might push my first actual show back a week). I might need to buy hardware too, because I don't have a camera other than my smartphone and a built in laptop webcam.

I do have a good instrumental recording mic, so at least there's that.

Cool @AndrewH - any time you want to do a live test - just PM me (well in advance obviously !) via the forum....

This Sunday we have 3 players -

@Tipiaowsek - 5:30PM ( GMT )

@damfino - 7:00PM ( GMT ) - I think that's 2PM EST

Myself - 7:30PM

Just check on the SJ calendar from your own timezones...

So there's a kind of big gap around tipiaowsek - but let's remember to tune in and support her !   Yayyyy

Finally I'll be doing Strings on Sunday. I won't be too long though I think. There's a couple of new songs I wanted to try. I'm trying to practice Menuet in G. Hopefully that goes well.

Do not practice until you get it right, practice until you can't get it wrong.

Great stuff @Tipiaowsek - you obviously enjoyed your first SJ performance some weeks back in FiddleFest !   Looking forward to another regular contributor to Strings on Sunday !!!    :)

Have a great time Fiddlers. :)

I am headed for some hiking and trail miles because I ate too  much salt and butter over thanksgiving.. :)   I need to burn it off.

I am also potentially training for an Ultra race in the Canyons for April. Time will tell.

Cheers and have a blast on SJ.

Rob http://www.streetjelly.com/RobVanNiel added in for SOS at 1:00 PM est.

I dropped out for now, big confidence drop and just feeling hard on myself, so just not feeling it (it's one of those "I should just sell my fiddle" kind of days). I will most likely be around to watch everyone, though :D

Mandy,

I agree with Andrew you sounded good on your last video!

Most of us are more critical on our own playing than how it really is.

Last weekend I felt I had blown Nearer my God to thee when I played it as a duet with a piano player, I felt my timing and intonation went South when I shifted up to play an active up, according to her and several other it sounded intune and in time with the piano.

Under ear and what folks hear with multiple instruments at a distance can be quite different.

You really do good in your playing.

Mark
