Good to know. The hounds..for whatever reason..might decide the cake is a snack or chew toy in one of my more careless days.

On a less serious note...

Also according to the literature you should keep it away from beats and any bots that wander into your area.  Lets be safe out there folks.

Hey guys - already tried this - just not enough freedom of movement for a wide-vibrato with the gloves on -

roflroflrofl

I love the smell of rosin and when rosining, I'll flick the back of the hair with my fingernail, and if I don't get enough of a cloud-of-dust to smell, IT'S NOT ENOUGH - and it gets another 10 wipes across the cake....

Hmmm.. on reflection, that's maybe what's wrong with me.... facepalm

j/k

So, is this one of those substances not made for children, yet made for children to use?

I use the term “children” loosely. I am positive it applies to some of us! Correction, some of YOU! 😂😂😂

Also, if I look like this dazed after rosining, have I used too much?

Seriously, if anyone is just looking through posts on this forum, and really does not know, rosin is not meant to be ingested, it does have turpentine in it. You do not eat it. Really needs to be said, I think.

Some rosin is so pretty. I hated to rub my bows across some of my rosins.

On a more serious note....

I am reading some reviews on Pirastro Goldflex Rosin and some say it is a mass produced rosin which has "fake" gold flakes that really do nothing for the rosin or your sound and this is more or less a gimmick.

Has anyone every used this or other Pirastro rosins?  They seem to be on the expensive side.

@Pete_Violin

I have used Pirastro Evah Gold (not the gold flex you are talking about). I like my Pirastro Evah Gold. Pirastro sent it to me because I had a mix of strings on my cello. I had caking issues. I tried my Pirastro Cherry Cello Rosin and it was worse. I emailed Pirastro and asked them for a recommendation. They recommended the string mix to me. They sent me Evah Gold Rosin. I like it. I use that, Jade, Fiddlerman and a Gualliaume or something like, depending on the strings.

I use these for my cello, violin and viola, again, depending on the string set.
