I went back and watched the rest of the film--I really enjoyed the whole thing.

I found this review of the film which gives a different slant--not very complimentary.

Be that as it may from a moviemaker/reviewer's standpoint I learned a lot about Heifetz I'd never known before from watching the film. And I'd recommend it to anyone.

I enjoyed it very much. What an amazing life this guy had. Too bad there is a small scuffle on another post about this link. Its a very good watch. Dude was hitting notes I never knew existed.

I get it better now.  The uncomplimentary reference sent Mr. Rosen through the roof.  Ego.

Bah, reviewers.  While such a movie may never be a box office hit, that doesn't mean that it isn't very worthwhile.  Obviously it will be of more interest to a niche audience, but it is a good sized niche.  Mostly people interesting in violin and/or classical music will be who would most want to see it.

With a performer/musician as significant and influential as Jascha Heifetz, for a reviewer to say that it wasn't worth a feature length film indicates a lack of interest and knowledge about the subject.  It is rather pathetic when reviewers try to evaluate topics beyond the scope of their knowledge and experience.  Sadly, it is usually the case.

Who pays any attention to reviews anyway?  LOL

I liked the documentary in any case. :-) Even though we were never supposed to see it.

I was going to try and ask the guy if we could add the movie to the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, Summer Film Festival...

Actually, the movie inspired me very well, it litterally made me practise more! Heifetz was awesome! I learned that despite a lot of criticism, ignored them all and do anything to master his art.

Heifetz is still considered by many to have been the greatest violinist of all times. He still inspires millions of violinists.
